In service: St. Bartholomew students celebrate National Catholic Schools Week

St. Bartholomew Catholic School celebrated National Catholic Schools Week with a community service day.

On Jan. 29, middle school students in grades six through eight spent the morning working on service projects throughout Columbus, said Kelly Glick, school spokeswoman.

The service day was part of a nationwide celebration of Catholic education from Jan. 27 through Feb. 2 with the theme, "Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed."

Groups of students visited and helped at Love Chapel, Sans Souci, Malachi’s Closet, the Salvation Army and Four Seasons Retirement Home.

An additional group of students remained at St. Bartholomew and worked on projects for Beloved Duffel Bag and Blankets of Hope.

"We appreciate the support we receive from the community and we encourage our students to give back through service projects all year," said Principal Helen Heckman.

The National Catholic Education Association is the official sponsor of National Catholic Schools Week.
