Local man arrested after jumping out second-floor window

Columbus police arrested a local man after he jumped out of a second story apartment window in an effort to evade officers.

Columbus police saw Lawson R. Allen, 38, of 9700 N. County Road 150E, in the 2300 block of Charleston Place at 7:10 p.m. Friday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Allen, who had two warrants for his arrest, ran into a nearby apartment after observing the officers and later jumped out a second-story apartment window to avoid arrest, Harris said.

Officers pursued Allen on foot and he was caught a short time later. Allen was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment of an ankle injury and then taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and the two warrants.

Allen was being held without bond in the jail, jail officials said.
