Flood warning issued for area rivers

The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for the East Fork White River, Flatrock River and Driftwood River from today through the weekend.

The warning for the East Fork White River near Columbus was issued for this afternoon to late Sunday night. At 2 p.m. Wednesday, the stage was 3.3 feet. Flood stage is 9.0 feet. The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by this morning and continue to rise to near 12.2 feet by Friday afternoon, falling below flood stage Sunday morning.

The Flatrock River, near Columbus, has a flood warning from this afternoon to Sunday afternoon. At 2:30 a.m. Wednesday the stage was 7.6 feet. Flood stage is 11.0 feet. The river is forecast to rise above flood stage this morning and continue to 13.7 feet by late tonight. It will fall below flood stage by late Saturday night, forecasters said.

Driftwood River near Edinburgh, has a flood warning from this afternoon to Monday afternoon. At 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, the stage was 7.7 feet. Flood stage is 11.0 feet. The river will rise above flood stage to near 15.3 feet by Saturday morning. It will fall below flood stage by late Sunday night, forecasters said.

Only one road closing was reported Wednesday afternoon — Bartholomew County Emergency Management announced County Road East 300S is closed between South County Road 525E and South County Road 600E due to high water.
