North wins Connersville invitational

CONNERSVILLE — Emily Moore won three events and the all-around competition Saturday to lead the Columbus North gymnasts to the Connersville Invitational championship.

The Bull Dogs scored a 109.3. Richmond finished second with a 104.8, and Roncalli was third with a 101.05.

Moore won the vault (9.475), bars (9.625) and floor (9.55) and finished third on the beam (9.1) for a 37.75 all-around score. Tova Edwards took tied for second on the floor (9.4) and finished fourth on the vault (9.15) and bars (9.1) and seventh on the beam (8.6) on her way to a fourth-place all-around finish (36.25).

Alayne Davis finished fifth on the vault (9.075), Ashley Niebrugge took sixth on the beam (8.625). Grace Ellis was seventh on the vault (8.625), and Madi Edwards finished seventh on the bars (8.675).

Hauser cruises to rout of Hilltoppers

MADISON — Hauser snapped a four-game losing streak Saturday when it rolled to a 72-39 win at Madison Shawe.

Trey Johnson scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures for the Jets (8-11). Jackson Paradise added 14, Will Trotter had 11 and Sean Miller finished with 10.

Cardinals hold off Crusaders’ charge

Columbus Christian overcame an early 18-0 deficit Saturday to take a 60-59 lead late in the game before Washington Catholic scored the game’s final five points to pull out a 64-60 victory.

Conner Emily led the Crusaders (10-15) with 21 points. C.J. Reed added 18.

Fast start sends Red Devils past Panthers

JEFFERSONVILLE — Jennings County outscored Jeffersonville over the final three quarters Saturday, but couldn’t overcome a 29-8 deficit after one quarter in an 80-60 Hoosier Hills Conference loss.

Josh Pettit led the Panthers (7-13, 1-6) with 22 points. Cody Wilson added 12.

Lancers pick up pair of victories

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh won a pair of games this weekend, edging Greenwood Christian Academy 58-56 on Friday and routing Cambridge City Lincoln 79-44 on Saturday.

Darius Bennett and Bryce Burton each scored 18 points to lead four players in double figures for the Lancers (7-11) against CCL. Coltan Henderson added 11, and Jordan Myers had 10.

On Friday, Henderson hit a 3-pointer with 15 seconds remaining to lift Edinburgh past GCA. Henderson finished with 18 points, while Jordan Myers added 12.

Cougars down Mohawks for first MHC win

GREENSBURG — South Decatur picked up its first Mid-Hoosier Conference win of the year Friday, a 58-45 triumph against Waldron.

Lane Lauderbaugh led the Cougars (6-14, 1-4) with 24 points. Evan Wullenweber added 11.

Columbus Christian falls to Horizon Christian

INDIANAPOLIS — Horizon Christian jumped out to a 29-2 halftime lead Friday and went on to hand Columbus Christian a 55-27 defeat.

Madison Henderson led the Crusaders (14-8) with 10 points. Kayla Jones grabbed 12 rebounds.
