ELIZABETHTOWN
Marie Emmert Williams, 95, joined her husband and son in Heaven on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Marie was born on August 14, 1923, the daughter of Carl D. Emmert and Rowena Roach Emmert. She married Harry Milton Williams on November 25, 1942. They were married 68 years when he preceded her in death on February 3, 2010.
Marie loved her family and friends dearly and wanted to thank all of her friends who treated her like family. She especially appreciated the love and care given to her and the time others spent with her. She was a member of the East Columbus United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, The Rebekah Lodge and Telephone Pioneers. She was retired from Indiana Bell Telephone.
Survivors include her daughter and caregiver, Karen Helton of Elizabethtown; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Williams of Columbus; five grandchildren, Alan Williams, Greg (Connie) Williams, Kathryn (Greg) McNicholas, Brian (Teresa) Helton, and Brad (Tricia) Helton; eight great-grandchildren, Evan Williams, Courtney Williams, Morgan Williams, William Gates, Emily Gates, Adam (Nicole) Helton, Drew Helton and Jake Helton; and three great great-grandchildren, Abbey Williams, Maci Jo Arms and Avery Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Harlon “Will” Williams; her parents; and her five siblings.
Family and friends may attend a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Garland Brook Cemetery with Pastor Charles Aigner officiating.
A memorial service and celebration of life meal at East Columbus United Methodist Church will immediately follow the graveside service for all who can attend.
