Flat Rock-Hawcreek hosts kindergarten registration

Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp. will have kindergarten registration and screenings for children who will be eligible to attend kindergarten in the 2019-2020 school year.

Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1 to be eligible.

Kindergarten screenings will be on Wednesday, April 10 and Thursday, April 11 at Hope Elementary School by appointment. Allow approximately 30 minutes for each appointment.

Parents and children should bring the child’s birth certificate and immunization record to registration.

Hours are as follows:

Wednesday, April 11:

9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Thursday, April 12:

9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

New Tech seniors plan pancreatic cancer awareness 5K

Two Columbus Signature Academy — New Tech seniors are raising awareness for pancreatic cancer in a senior project.

Emily Arroyo and Charisma Boroughs will host a glow-in-the-dark 5K walk and run at Mill Race Park at 9:30 p.m. March 29. Registration opens at 8:30 p.m.

Cost is $20 for adults, $15 for teens ages 17 and younger and $10 for kids ages 12 and younger. All proceeds will benefit the Columbus Regional Hospital Cancer Center.

Walker welcomes local students to Statehouse

Several local students visited the Indiana Statehouse in January and February to serve as a page for Sen. Greg Walker, R-Columbus. They include:
