Around Town – April 6

Orchids to …

• Lock Doc, for responding promptly to unlock my car at Kroger.

• Greg Dinkins for his letter which accurately identifies the serious problem facing our nation, from Gary Hallum.

• Jackson for the smile and wave every school morning, from the crossing guard.

• Lindsey Graham for making the very reasonable suggestion that all candidates for president in 2020, including Donald Trump, must release their tax returns.

• Central Barber Shop for celebrating its 60th year of grooming customers in Columbus.

• Gretchen at Kohl’s, an angel, for all the help, from the old couple.

• Mike K. Gray for being a wonderful person and a special person and for always being there for me.

• Richard Walter, for the letter to the editor.

• Charlie Oliver at Columbus Optical for repairing my eyeglasses, from Margaret.

Onions to …

• the residents of Sandy Hook who put long metal sticks along their front yard or median because they not only really detract from the neighborhood, but also can be very hazardous.

• distracted drivers.

• the person who suggested that socialism is unthinkable as a Christian lifestyle, given the fact that Acts 2:44 suggests a rudimentary form of socialism (common sharing of possessions) among the earliest Christians.

• Democrats for trying to destroy this country with divisiveness, abortion, silencing conservative speech, becoming socialists and refusing to accept the Mueller report that the president did not collude with the Russians.

• all the people that keep whining about the Mueller report because the investigation is over and time to focus on getting local politicians to fix crumbling roads and worry about local issues.

• the city planning people whining and worrying about an empty building that is not an eyesore or a problem instead of fixing streets and roads.

• lawmakers who stood in Washington, D.C., with a gun lobbying group that doesn’t advocate enough to keep guns out of the hands of people with violent pasts.

• teachers who are misleading about how much money they make and the time they’re required to put in.
