Meet Bree Mefford

Bree Mefford is a senior at Jennings County High School. She recently took time to share about herself and her future plans.

Q: Who are your parents/guardians, grandparents and siblings?

A: Parents: Sara Mefford and Rodney Mefford. Grandparents: the late Janet Smith Gosman, late Judy Mefford, Willard and Paula Gerth, Hubert Mefford.

Q: Which elementary school did you attend?

A: Brush Creek Elementary.

Q: What’s your favorite class and why?

A: Intern — it’s an opportunity to get experience in the medical field. I intern at the St. Vincent Jennings ER.

Q: When you’re not in school, where’s your favorite place to be and why?

A: in my bed sleeping because senior year has a lot going on; school seems to be never ending. Or kayaking, it is such a stress reliever and it’s so much fun.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Honestly, what I’m liking and craving depends on my mood. I really like all foods, besides cucumbers and celery.

Q: What has been your greatest high school memory?

A: JCHS has given me many opportunities so it’s hard to pick one favorite memory. In general, homecoming has provided me with the most memorable events. My class always comes together and by the end of the week the entire school comes together. I believe every student should experience how we execute the homecoming tradition!

Q: What are your plans after high school?

A: I plan to attend Indiana University Southeast to receive my bachelor’s in nursing.

Q: Who in your life has inspired you?

A: My mom has inspired me. My mom has worked in a factory all of my life. She has always made providing for my brother and I her top priority.

Q: What is the most important thing you’ve learned from high school?

A: I believe that high school itself has been one of the biggest learning stages in my life. I have had to balance some of my biggest struggles yet some of my best times. Therefore, learning balance has been the most important thing that I’ve learned from high school.

Q: What is your workout routine? Any part that you don’t like?

A: Truthfully, walking up and down the stairs at school is my workout. Kidding. I have become very big in nutrition. I love nutrition, trying new foods and learning all about health of the human body. When I work out, my favorite part is feeling the pain of gains in my legs, thighs and arms, but the same thing I don’t like is not being able to walk down my stairs.

Q: A cool Friday night would be?

A: Not working.

Q: What three adjectives best describe you?

A: Outgoing, loving, compassionate.

Q: Favorite movie?

A: “Princess Diaries” and “Princess Diaries 2” (I highly recommend).

Q: What is your favorite book?

A: Honestly, I only read when I have to for my IU (ACP) English class. Reading isn’t my thing.

Q: Smartphone?

A: iPhone.

Q: The best place you have visited?

A: Panama City Beach. I went over fall break. The weather was warm, the sun was always showing and the water was beautiful and light blue.
