The Columbus North boys golf team played without its top golfers in the lineup for Wednesday’s dual meet against Hauser at Harrison Lake Country Club.
However, it did not slow the Bull Dogs down any, and they posted a 168-215 victory.
"It’s really nice. I enjoy playing against Hauser," North coach Doug Bieker said. "Some of the kids here know each other, so it’s nice to be able to play against them and for them to come over here and for us to go over there sometimes every other year. We did play some other guys tonight to give them some varsity experience and a chance to play, so from that standpoint, it’s good."
Luke Schneider was the medalist by shooting a 40 to lead the Bull Dogs.

"I think I played all right," Schneider said. "I missed a few easy putts early. That kind of hurt, but I stuck with it and made some putts to make up for the short putts I missed. So overall, I thought it was all right."
Reese Moore carded a 42 for North. Jackson Kerber and Conner Williams each shot 43, Cameron Ziegler added a 44 and Aditja Banerjee had a 45.
Sam Johnson led the Jets with a 46. Ethan Wallace finished with a 51, Justice Gilliard scored a 58, Daniel Taylor carded a 60, Justin Stafford had a 63 and Keagan Miller added a 67.
"(Harrison Lake) is quite a bit different. Only one has played here before, and for the rest, it was the first time playing here," Hauser coach Mike Compton said. "We practiced at Otter Creek (Tuesday) to prepare them for the sand shots and chipping. We hit some great shots tonight. I saw a lot of good tee balls. We’ll get more and more reps under our belt, and that’s what it’s about. We’ll try to get more rounds in and work on identifying their weaknesses."
Based on Wednesday’s results, Bieker is pleased to have a lot of depth on his team.
"It’s always a good thing when these guys are close together, and they push each other," Bieker said. "We have some young kids coming that are pretty talented. I think this team is going to surprise, and I think we did that (Tuesday) when we beat fifth-ranked Zionsville. We’ll just keep working to try to get better."
