The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department reported there is a telephone scam going around that involves someone using the names of Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office deputies, including names of people in leadership positions.
These phone calls include threats of tracking the victims’ cell phone and false accusations of criminal charges if the victim does not comply, according to the sheriff’s department.
Local residents should not give any personal information to these individuals, but instead hang up and call local law enforcement.
