COLUMBUS

David L. Pelley, 80, of Columbus, passed from this life at 6:02 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the Columbus Regional Hospital.

David was born December 25, 1938, in Columbus, the son of Joe and Mildred Bechelli Pelley.

Mr. Pelley retired from Behler Pontiac after 35 years of service.

He was the owner and operator of a Standard Gas Station in the 1960’s and was a member of Columbus Moose Lodge #398.

He attended St. Bartholomew Catholic School and graduated from Columbus High School.

He enjoyed NASCAR, working on cars, going to horse races and snowmobiling.

Mr. Pelley was a U. S. Air Force Veteran.

He married, Barbara J. Robertson July 5, 1969.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years; children, Sonja Leesa Roberts of Virginia, Kimberly (Dee) Jones of Columbus, Brian (Lori) Pelley of Columbus and Brent (Cindy) Pelley of Avon; daughter-in-law, Angie Burnett of Columbus; grandchildren, Shelby (Matt) Wasson, Morgan Burnett, Dustin (Jessica) Campbell, Will (Erika) Campbell, Laura (Joe) Hurd, Brooke Jones, Bryce Jones, Gunner Jones, Braden (Kyley) Pelley, Alexa Pelley, Elizabeth Pelley and Tyler Pelley; great-grandchildren, Mylah, Carter, Ava, Halle, Miles, Blakley, Maddox, Gannon, Camryn and Scarlett; and a sister, Rita (Joe) Dell of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son David J. Pelley; and sisters, Judy Carmer, Rosie Williams and Vicky Fontana.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday and Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.

Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. to time of service.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Autism Society of America.
