East falls in 10
FLOYDS KNOBS — Columbus East took a 2-0 lead in the top of the ninth, but Floyd Central answered with two in the bottom of the ninth, then scored the winning run in the 10th for a 3-2 win in the opening round of the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament.
Julian Greenwell hit a solo home run, and Nash Murphy had a two-out RBI-single for the Olympians (13-3). Cole Gilley pitched eight shutout innings before allowing the two runs in the ninth and giving way to Daniel Murphy.
East will host Madison in a consolation-round game on Wednesday and will host the fifth- or seventh-place game on Friday.
Bulldogs blank Panthers
NORTH VERNON — New Albany limited Jennings County to two hits in handing the Panthers a 2-0 loss in the first round of the HHC Tournament.
Kyle Wilson went 2 for 3 to record both hits for the Panthers (4-8).
Jennings will host Seymour in a consolation-round game on Wednesday and will be on the road for a placement-round game on Friday.
Trinity run-rules CAI
NEW ALBANY — Tyler Goecker threw a four-hit shutout and had two hits and two RBIs to lead Trinity Lutheran to a 10-0 win at Christian Academy of Indiana.
Jack Marksberry and Josh Rowe each had two hits and two RBIs for the Cougars (7-7).

Eagles topple North
BROWNSTOWN — Columbus North outhit Brownstown Central 9-7, but the Braves claimed a 4-1 win to avenge an earlier loss to the Bull Dogs.
Meghan Waggoner and Brooke Bruin each went 2 for 3 for North (7-8). Emalee Heafner went 2 for 4.
Columbus Christian rolls
Emily Stair threw a one-hit shutout, Hannah Stair went 4 for 5 with five RBIs and Kaden Hofelich went 2 for 4 with a grand slam and six RBIs to lead Columbus Christian to a 21-0, five-inning rout of Traders Point Christian.
Emmie Felde and Ellie Ridder each went 2 for 2 with two RBIs for the Crusaders (5-1).
Panthers claim victory
NORTH VERNON — Gabby Mahoney threw and eight-hitter, and Kylee Matern went 2 for 4 with a home run in Jennings County’s 5-2 HHC win against New Albany.
Haley Engelking and Lexi South each went 2 for 3 for the Panthers (15-5, 4-2).
Scottsburg tops Trinity
SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran was tied with Scottsburg 3-3 after four innings, but the Warriors scored four in the fifth and three in the sixth to pull away for a 10-3 win.
Savannah Harweger had three hits for the Cougars (5-7). Bailey Reynolds smacked a home run.

New Albany nips East
NEW ALBANY — Columbus East won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, but New Albany took the other three to claim a 3-2 victory in the opening round of the HHC Tournament.
Kathryn Hodzen win 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Megna Chari prevailed 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles for the Olympians (9-6). Ayano Nomura fell 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, Louna Prince and Cristina Marco lost 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Emie Kiser and Cathrine Millwood fell 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
East will host Madison in a consolation-round match on Wednesday and will be on the road for a fifth- or seventh-place match on Friday.

NORTH VERNON — Floyd Central won all five matches in straight sets in handing Jennings County a 5-0 loss in the first round of the HHC Tournament.
Ellie Hearne fell to Jasmine Shireman 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Reagan Brown lost to Abby Jamison 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Hailey Brown fell to Michelle Marin 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Panthers (7-5).
Jennings’ Callie Wilder and Sydney Carson lost to Lindsey Doresey and Kaitlyn Jones 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Courtney Lykins and Abigail DeCamp fell to Katie Weimer and Brooke Ellis 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
Eagles fall in final
NASHVILLE — Northview won all five matches in straight sets to post a 5-0 win at Brown County in the Western Indiana Conference championship.
Baelyn Koester fell to Megan Heck 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Meg Smith lost to Kambree Lucas 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Claire Dannelley fell to Emma Clauson 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (3-13).
Brown County’s Olivia Baughman and Cassidy Davis lost to Madisson Malfioli and Torrey Fagg 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Julia Williams and Grace Baughman fell to Sophia Buell and Daisy Trevanthan 6-0, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles.
Spartans edge Lancers
SHELBYVILLE — Edinburgh won both doubles matches, but Southwestern (Shelby) swept the singles matches to claim a 3-2 MHC victory.
Haven Link and Emily Chappelow beat Blaire Harriman and Kirsten Payne 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles for the Lancers (2-11, 1-2). Bethany Burton and Katie Roberts downed Karli Manship and Ryeland Brewer 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Edinburgh’s Haley Jones fell to Kenzie Logan 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Destiney Ramey lost to Emma Theobald 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Sophia Parmer fell to Gabby Ibarra 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 singles.

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran rallied for a three-set win at No. 1 doubles to pull out a 3-2 win against Henryville.
Abby Schult won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Sarah Lemming prevailed 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Lauren Fleetwood and Cassidy Burnside triumphed 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles for the Cougars (5-9). Regan Cain fell 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 singles, and Katelyn Mensendiek and Flossie Cooper lost 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Cubs outscore East
MADISON — Columbus East fell to Madison 167-180 in its final tuneup for Monday’s HHC Tournament on the same Sunrise course.
Kody Reynolds led the Olympians with a 42. Adrian Adams added a 43, Leyton Erfmeier shot 47 and Cole Schaefer had a 48.
Jets finish second
GREENSBURG — Hauser finished second in a tri match at North Branch. Host North Decatur won with a 177 to 200 for the Jets and 234 for Edinburgh.
Ethan Wallace led Hauser with a 46. Sam Johnson carded a 48, Justice Gilliland added a 49, Justin Stafford shot 57, Daniel Taylor had a 61, Keagan Miller finished a 63.
Bladen Hancock won medalist honors with a 42 to lead the Lancers. Darius Bennett carded a 63, Jordan Myers added a 64, Travis Jones shot 65 and Parker Neumann had a 67.
Trinity takes second
BROWNSTOWN — Trinity Lutheran finished second in a tri match at Hickory Hills. Seymour won with a 166 to 177 for the Cougars and 215 for host Brownstown Central.
Jacob Keith led Trinity with a 40. Mark Shoemaker carded a 42, Josiah Foster added a 47, Ryland Nierman shot 48, Jacob Sabotin had a 51, Kade Hill finished with a 56, Caleb Williams shot 58 and Preston Kovener had a 60.
