Glover seeks GOP nomination for judge

An attorney who shares a law practice with the family of a retiring judge says he plans to run to succeed the judge next year.

Dominic Glover, 47, on Thursday announced his intentions to seek the GOP nomination for Bartholomew Superior Court 2 judge next year.

Calling it his “dream job,” Glover said he has been interested in being a judge since former Superior Court 2 Judge Norman Curry spoke to one of Glover’s high school classes. He describes the entire judicial process as “engaging and appealing.”

“Every case is different, every situation is different, and every person or family brings their own unique circumstances to the court,” Glover said. “For that reason, correctly adjudicating each case has become even more appealing to me with age.”

Glover made his announcement two weeks after fellow Republican and Superior Court 2 Magistrate Joe Meek said he plans to seek the GOP nomination for judge. Meek and Glover are hoping to eventually succeed Judge Kathleen “Kitty” Tighe Coriden, who is retiring.

Glover said he is announcing his candidacy this early as it is likely that he and Meek will begin campaigning at the Bartholomew County Fair in July.

A 1989 graduate of Columbus North High School, Glover has been practicing law in Bartholomew County for the past 22 years.

During that time, he has received the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the Indiana Bar Association in 2004 and is a past president of the Bartholomew County Bar Association.

His community activities include serving on the board of directors of the Heritage Fund — The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County, as well as being a past president of the board overseeing the local Big Brothers — Big Sisters organization.

In the Coriden Glover LLC law firm, Glover is a partner with Coriden’s husband, Terry Coriden, who worked as city attorney during the administration of former Columbus mayor Fred Armstrong. Terry and Kitty Coriden’s son, Tim Coriden, is also a partner in the law practice at 445 Fifth St.

Judge Coriden worked in the same firm for six years until she defeated incumbent Bartholomew Superior Court Number 2 judge Rod McGillivray in the 2008 election.

Now 71, she confirmed her intention to retire from the bench on May 9, saying “it’s time for some new blood.”

Glover is the son of Walter Glover, a writer and adventurer who has made news in his own right by climbing some of the highest mountains in the world while in his 60s. His latest expeditions have served as a fundraiser for the local Foundation for Youth.
