A wanted individual who broke into a Columbus home to evade officers was arrested by Columbus police.

Officers from the Columbus Police Department’s Intelligence Led Policing Unit saw Scotty W. Garland III, 25, Columbus, riding a bicycle in the 1400 block of Chestnut Street at 3:20 p.m. Friday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

The officers confirmed two warrants for Garland’s arrest and saw Garland breaking into a front door and entering a nearby residence when they attempted to talk to him.

A short time later, Garland fled from the home and was spotted by officers in the 1600 block of Orinoco Avenue where he was arrested on preliminary charges of residential entry, resisting law enforcement and two warrants.
