Nathaly Munnicha won a pair of matches Wednesday to advance to the final four of the Women’s Western Junior Championship at Woodland Country Club in Carmel.

Munnicha, who will be a junior at Columbus North, beat Jessica Hahn of Canton, Ohio, 3-and-2 in the morning in the Round of 16. In the afternoon, Munnicha posted another 3-and-2 victory, this time against Sarah Arnold of St. Charles, Illinois.

“I kept my focus on myself and my opponent,” Munnicha said in a news release. “I took it hole by hole, staying mentally positive. On 15, my opponent knocked it close. I knew I had to hit it closer. I chipped it in.”

Munnicha had qualified for the match play tournament by tying for fifth in stroke play following rounds of 73 and 72 on Monday and Tuesday.

Munnicha will play in the semifinals at 7:38 a.m. today against Jocelyn Bruch, who will be a senior at Westfield. Brooke Biermann, Wildwood, Missouri, and Gabriella Gilrowski of Westfield play in the other semifinal. The championship match will be this afternoon.

“I am going to go out and have a good time,” Munnicha said. “I’ll play my best. I’m just so proud to be here.”

Play suspended at Indiana Amateur due to rain

Most of Wednesday’s third round at the Indiana Amateur Championship was washed out.

Tournament officials will attempt to restart the third round at 10 a.m. today at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville. If the third round can be completed, they will attempt to start the fourth and final round after that. If more than half the field can finish Rounds 3 or 4 today, Round 4 will be finished on Friday morning. If no golf can be played today, the 36-hole scores will determine the results.

Columbus North graduate Bryce Turner, who will be a junior at St. Francis, was the only local golfer to make the cut. He is tied for 54th at 151 after rounds of 77 and 74 on Monday and Tuesday.
