Bartholomew County’s share of inheritance tax on the estate of the late Columbus philanthropist Xenia Miller, $1.38 million, was used to create a Rainy Day Fund for the county.

Flames shot more than 50 feet from the roof of Sans Souci Inc. on Jackson Street, creating an inferno for firefighters — four of whom were treated at the scene for heat exhaustion or smoke inhalation — and reducing the non-profit agency to ashes.
