Columbus Components Group on 17th Street sent home another 55 employees permanently, part of a planned plant closing, and about 122 workers at Baldor Electric Co., many who had been employed there more than 30 years, finished their last day on the job.

Columbus Regional Hospital officials announced the purchase of Sportmed facilities in Columbus and Greensburg.

Unhappy because the county would not improve their streets, several residents of the Leslie Baldwin Subdivision southwest of Columbus set up a barricade, closing the area to public traffic.
