Central holding volleyball open gyms, tryouts
Central Middle School will hold seventh-grade volleyball open gyms from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and tryouts from 4 to 6 p.m. July 30 to Aug. 1 in the school’s main gym.
CMS eighth-grade volleyball open gyms will be from 10 a.m. to noon July 29 to 31, and tryouts will be from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 1 and 2 in the school’s main gym. The first official practice will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Aug. 5.
Athletes must have a completed physical to participate.
Cramer Awards ceremony scheduled for July 29
This year’s Cramer Awards ceremony will be at 1 p.m. July 29 at Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena.
Columbus East wrestling coach Chris Cooper and Hamilton Center rink manager Carleen Fry are this year’s inductees.
Otter Creek to host Bryan Ritz Memorial
The Columbus Youth Hockey Bryan Ritz Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing will be at 1 p.m. July 31 at Otter Creek Golf Course.
Check-in and driving range opens from 11:30 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. Dinner and awards will follow the outing.
Cost is $125 for an individual, $400 for a foursome or $35 for individuals having dinner only. Sponsorships also are available. Proceeds will help give children who are economically disadvantaged the opportunity to become acquainted with hockey through the house league and/or continue to develop and play more competitive hockey in the travel team program.

Northside hosting ‘Fun Tennis Clinics,’ tryouts
Northside boys tennis coach Dale Guse is hosting “Fun Tennis Clinics” from 4:45 to 6 p.m. Aug. 1 and 2 at the Lincoln Park courts for boys entering seventh and eighth grades at Northside or St. Bartholomew schools interested in playing on the Northside fall tennis team.
Players should bring a racket and water bottle. They are not required to attend these clinics to try out for the team.
Tryouts will be from 4:45 to 6 p.m. Aug. 7 (the first day of school) through Aug. 9. Players will need to attend all three evenings of tryouts and have an IHSAA physical form is turned in by Aug. 7.

Edinburgh basketball to host golf outing
The Edinburgh Basketball Golf Outing will be at 8 a.m. Aug. 3 at Timbergate Golf Course.
Cost is $240 per team or $60 per person and includes lunch and a chance for prizes. Hardwood, Special Event and Hole Sponsorships also are available.

Hoosier Pro Wrestling to host ‘Summer Blast’
Hoosier Pro Wrestling will host "Summer Blast" Aug 3 at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and bell time is 7:45 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and free for kids 4-and-under.
