A local woman was arrested on several charges after she attempted to disarm a CPD officer during a disturbance early Saturday morning.
Columbus police were sent to the roundabout at about 3:20 a.m. Saturday about a woman walking in the area attempting to stop cars, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The officers located the woman, who was identified as Dystiny D. Green, 29, of 3622 N. Station Drive, a short time later and determined that she appeared to be intoxicated, Harris said.
Green began yelling at the officers and refused several orders to be quiet and was taken into custody a short time later, Harris said. Green then became combative with the officers while they were putting her inside a patrol car.
During the struggle, Green grabbed the top of an officer’s handgun and disengaged a safety feature on the officer’s holster before she was taken to the ground where additional restraints were placed on her, Harris said.
Green was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital where she spit of an officer before she was medically cleared for transport to the Bartholomew County Jail, Harris said.
Green was arrested on preliminary charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement, battery by bodily waste on a public safety official and attempted disarming of a law enforcement officer.
She was being held in the Bartholomew county Jail in lieu of $34,500 bond, jail officials said.
