The Bartholomew County Sheriff Department made 16 traffic stops for violations ranging from school bus stop arm violations to speeding during specialized patrols Aug. 7 through 9.
Deputies rode five school buses and conducted 28 school patrols during the three days, in addition to the traffic stops. Deputies were patrolling, before, during and immediately after school hours, according to the sheriff’s department. The department’s two school resource officers also assisted.
The enforcement effort was in a partnership with the Columbus Police Department and Indiana State Police who also conducted school bus stop arm enforcement during Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp.’s first days of school this month.
