An Indianapolis man was arrested after being accused of attempting to pay at a business in the 11000 block of North U.S. 31 with a counterfeit $50 bill.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the business at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday. As the customer left the parking lot, Deputy Joseph Pugh followed him to the Edinburgh Outlet Mall where the suspect attempted to elude law enforcement by hiding in the landscape, deputies said.
After a short foot pursuit, the suspect, who originally provided a false name and date of birth, was identified as Antonino Cheatem, 44, 1305 S Belmont Ave., Indianapolis.
Cheatem was taken into custody without further incident, deputies said. Cheatem remains in the Bartholomew County Jail without bond on the following preliminary charges: Resisting law enforcement, false informing, Johnson County warrant and Hendricks County warrant.
