Dayspring Church Apostolic — Worship begins at 11:15 a.m. at the church, 2127 Doctors Park Drive, Columbus. On Sunday, the church will be inspired by “Building a World View,” taken from Luke 4:1-14, “…That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God…”
Every visitor will receive a free gift.
The Sunday education session starts at 10 a.m. and covers Isaac and Rebecca as shared in Genesis 25:19-28.
Bible study will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and builds on the message from the previous Sunday with handout questions.
Prayer of Power starts at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and is preceded with requests and instructions on prayer. The Celebrate Recovery session starts at 6:30 p.m. for about an hour.
Ignite is the Youth Growth Session that happens every third Friday.

Eckankar of Southern Indiana — The spiritual Discussion group meets the third Sunday of each month at 1:30 p.m. Fellowship and light refreshments will follow. The meeting is at in the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbus building, 7850 W Goeller Blvd., Columbus.
The public is welcome to attend the discussion on Sunday, called “The Principles of Eckankar,” on the topic of “Spiritual Wisdom on Health and Healing.”
The meetings focus on an aspect of Eckankar and will feature readings from the books of Eckankar with group discussions of the spiritual principles at work in daily life.

Fairlawn Presbyterian — Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. led by the Rev. Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, followed by fellowship time.
Child care is available during Sunday services and second hour studies.
A men’s breakfast is 7:30 a.m. the second Saturday of every month for men of all ages.
The Last Friday’s Bluegrass event is 7:30 p.m. the last Friday of every month. All are welcome to bring an instrument and play along or simply enjoy the music.

First Presbyterian — For the remainder of August, services will focus on key passages that help articulate central aspects of faith. On Sunday, Scriptures will include Genesis 1:1-5 and Matthew 6:30-34, and a sermon titled, “First Things First.” Worship begins at 9:30 a.m., at 512 Seventh St., Columbus.
Infant and toddler care is available 9:15 a.m. to noon.
The men’s and women’s support groups meet on Fridays at 7 a.m., and a second men’s support group (working age men) meets every Monday at 6:15 a.m. People in the community in need of a meal are invited to Hot Meals offered at 5 p.m. Fridays (enter through the glass doors on Franklin Street).
First Presbyterian is an LGBTQ-friendly church that is open and affirming to all.

First United Methodist — On Sunday, at the 9 a.m. traditional service and the 11 a.m. celebration service, the Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message, “A Failure of Imagination,” at the church, 618 Eighth St., Columbus.
The Scripture will be Luke 12:32-34. Sunday School begins at 10:10 a.m. Child care is available during both services.

Flintwood Wesleyan — On Sunday, the Amplify (non-traditional) service begins at at 9 a.m. with Sunday School classes at 10 a.m. in the regular rooms. The Well (traditional) service starts at 11 a.m. Both services are in the the main sanctuary and led by the Rev. Wes Jones, senior pastor. Jones is doing a new series titled “The Days of Elijah.” The title for Sunday is “The Vineyard.”
The Prayer Team meets at 8 a.m.
Sunday evenings Celebrate Recovery begins with a meal at 5:25 p.m. in The Friendship Center and the meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the main Sanctuary. The public is invited to attend.
Wednesday activities begins with a meal at 5:30 p.m. The program, iKids (Ignite Kids) On Fire For Jesus! starts at 6:15 p.m. This program is for kids in Pre-K through the sixth grade. If your child needs transportation, call the church office. The bus will run on Wednesday nights. The prayer team meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Prayer Room. Youth meets at 6:30 p.m. downstairs in the church. Bible study is at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.
Thursday: Cub Scout Pack 588 will meet when events are scheduled and Boy Scout Troop 588 will meet at 7 p.m.

Grace Lutheran — Rev. John Armstrong will be will bringing the message based on Luke 12:49-53 about the divisive nature of Christ’s earthly mission. Worship is at 8 and 10:30 a.m. Adult Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m.
All-ages Sunday school will begin at 1:30 a.m. and everyone is welcome for food, stories and games.
The International Friendship Center at Grace will host “A Taste of Mexico” starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.
A special evangelism class “Ever One His Witness” will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 21.

Old Union United Church of Christ — Sunday service is at 10 a.m.; it is the 10th Sunday after Pentecost. Sunday school is at 9 a.m., followed by fellowship at 9:40 a.m. The message will be “Faithful Witnesses” with readings from Isaiah 5:1-7, Hebrews 11:29-12:2 and Luke 12:49-56.

Petersville United Methodist — The Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry will deliver the message, “The Race,” at the 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday at the church, 2781 N. County Road 500E, Columbus. Liturgist Bill Pershing will share scriptures from Hebrews 12:1-2 and Psalm 80:12-18. The theme for the morning will be “God Sustains You During the Race.” Teresa Covert will give the children’s sermon. A time of fellowship will follow the service.

St. Paul Lutheran — Pastor Doug Bauman will deliver the message “The Amazing Race” based on Hebrews 11:17–31 and 12:1-3 at the 8 and 10:45 a.m. services Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 6045 E. State St., Columbus.
New members who have joined the church in the last eight months will be recognized and welcomed into the congregation during the Christian education hour beginning at 9:30 a.m. Spanish worship will be led by Vicar Dan Fickenscher at 2:30 p.m. in the church followed by Spanish and English Sunday School.

Westside Community — Pastor Robert Vester will lead the service at 10 a.m. Sunday at the church at the corner of State Road 46 West and Tipton Lakes Boulevard. The children’s program for birth through sixth grade meets at the same time as the 10 a.m. worship service.

Faith In Action, a community outreach program, meets at the Family Life Center at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evenings for a time of prayer before going into the local community to share God’s love.

First United Methodist Church — At 7 p.m. Aug. 30, FUMC will have a free concert in the sanctuary as part of the Fridays@First series. It will be “Beyond the Guarded Gate” and will feature GeDeane Graham, Mezzo Soprano, and Claudia Santana Nunez, Piano.

Events
Garden City Church of Christ — The church is offering registration for Trail Life, a A Christ-centered, outdoor adventure, leadership and character development ministry for boys in Grades K-8.

East Columbus Christian — The church presents Fuel on Wednesday nights, which includes a free meal and Bible study from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It is located at 3170 Indiana Ave., next to Columbus East High School.
Flintwood Wesleyan — Aug. 24 is the church’s Building Hope 5K Event.
Registration is open online at flintwood.org. The cost is $25 with an event shirt and $20 without the shirt. Kids 12 and under the cost is $15 with event shirt and $10 without the shirt. Day-of registration begins at 8 a.m., with the walk starting at 9 a.m.
The next open market will be 8:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 7. Local artisans will be set up as well as vendors selling food and produce. If you are interested in renting a booth contact Kim Rutan in the church office.
The District SAM Retreat at The Family Campgrounds in Orleans is scheduled for Sept. 4-7. The event is aimed at seniors and will include games, auctions, Bible lessons, food and fellowship.
The monthly SAM luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 12 at The Friendship Center.
On Sept. 21, the youth will have a Kiss the Critter Event. Details will be announced soon.

South Central Indiana Christian Men’s Fellowship — 6:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at United Christian Church, 7810 W. State Road 250, Paris Crossing. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. and is followed by the meeting at 7:15 p.m. The meal is fried chicken and trimmings, including cheesy potatoes. Johnny Johnson will be the speaker. Women are invited to attend this meeting, too.

First Lutheran — The church will host an Alzheimer’s Support Group meeting on the third Monday of each month from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The group will be led by Mary Ellen Wyman, the former executive director of the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, and will be open to the public.
It is a peer-led group of caregivers who are providing support for those living with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia. This is not a group for individuals or patients diagnosed with dementia.
