IUPUC to welcome visitors during ‘Family Day’

IUPUC is starting a new tradition by designating one day during its Welcome Week to not only welcome students, but also their families and the Columbus community.

“We received feedback from students that they would like to show off the campus to their families, whether that’s their parents, siblings, spouses or children,” said Bailey Moss, assistant director of student affairs. “It just seemed like a natural progression to also invite the entire community to be a part of the celebration of a new school year starting at IUPUC.”

Family Day, which is free and open to the public, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 28. Activities include a petting zoo, BMX Show, giant games, prizes and an opportunity to learn more about IUPUC.

Several community organizations will attend to provide information about their services, including the Alzheimer’s Association, ASAP, Foundation for Youth, Lincoln Central Family Neighborhood Center, Love Chapel, Su Casa, Turning Point, United Way of Bartholomew County and WIC of Columbus.
