Columbus Fireman’s Cheer Fund: The Cheer Fund provides a box of toys at Christmastime for about 1,200 children annually. Volunteers are needed to sort new and gently used toys, preparing, boxing up, distributing and transporting toys to families. Contact: bnoblitt@columbus.in.gov.

Columbus Salvation Army: Volunteers to assist in the food pantry, sort and stock food, and tend to janitorial needs. Time: 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays. Love Chapel: The nonprofit food pantry serves more than 4,000 Bartholomew County residents each month. Volunteers are needed to help with donation pickups, janitorial, food stocking and sorting, client intake and pantry shopping, information and technology, warehouse host, and other areas of the nonprofit outreach. Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the agency’s site at 311 Center St in Columbus. Time Commitment: Each shift is four hours. Sans Souci discount store: Needs volunteers for sorting donations, hanging clothing, pricing items. Groups of (up to) 10 volunteers for each shift in the morning and evening. Thrive Alliance: The non-profit organization that provides a wide range of social and human services to residents of south central Indiana needs volunteers for helping with office clerical tasks (filing, copying, data entry and making phone calls). Turning Point Domestic Violence Services: Ongoing and immediate opportunities include a volunteer handyman to join the other volunteer handymen in repairing and maintaining the shelter and office.
