NORTH VERNON — Each year on the second Saturday of August, local car collectors rejoice at the opportunity to give their beloved wheels a spin.
On this day, collectors of fine cars both old and new are encouraged to go out and “cruise their cars, just like we did in the ‘60s and ‘70s,” as the event’s official Facebook page states.
The City of North Vernon’s annual “Blast from the Past Cruise In” was Aug. 10. Impressive cars of all eras could be found making their rounds that evening, and families gathered along State Street to watch the event. Some families even piled into their vehicles to join in on the cruising fun.
Accompanying this event, local businesses can often be found opening their doors beyond their usual hours in order to better accommodate the families that may wish to visit. On this year’s event in particular, the local Brick Street Restaurant opened with a special menu to fit with the event’s theme.
