Koch to serve on study committees

INDIANAPOLIS — Sen. Eric Koch, R-Bedford, will serve on two statewide panels tasked with making recommendations to the Indiana General Assembly prior to the next legislative session.

Koch was named to the Interim Study Committee on Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications, which seeks to study funding options for lead water service line replacement and review state-mandated reports filed with the committee by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, the Office of Utility Consumer Counselor and the state Utility Forecasting Group.

Additionally, Koch will serve as vice chairman of the Probate Code Study Commission, which focuses on issues related to elder care, such as financial protection, abuse, statutes involving estates, trusts, among other issues.

Koch has also been reappointed to the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws by Senate President Pro Tempore Rodric Bray, R-Martinsville.

The organization provides states with non-partisan, well-conceived and well-drafted legislation that brings clarity and stability to critical areas of state statutory law. Headquartered in Chicago, is comprised of more than 300 lawyers, judges, law professors and state legislators, who receive no salaries or fees for their work.

Koch represents Senate District 44, which covers Lawrence and Brown counties, as well as parts of Bartholomew, Jackson and Monroe counties.
