COLUMBUS
Dorothy “Dottie” R. Spalding, 81, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Four Seasons Health Care Center.
Dottie was born April 11, 1938 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Robert and Helen Cline Studler.
She married Don I. Spalding September 8, 1956. He preceded her in death April 1, 2006.
Mrs. Spalding was a homemaker and was formerly employed at Dunlap Construction.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Edinburgh and was a former member of Bartholomew County Saddle Club and Driftwood Valley Cloggers.
Dottie was an avid sports fan and an animal lover. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her sons, Timothy M. (Charlotte) Spalding of Columbus, Patrick J. (Darlene) Spalding of Locust Grove, Virginia and Brian L. (Denise) Spalding of Columbus; grandchildren, Sophia (Seth) Johnson, Nathan (Joanna) Spalding, Rebekah (Jeff) Tobias, Aaron Spalding, Reid Spalding, Emily (Robert) Mixner, Mary Spalding, Hope Spalding and Abel Spalding; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Hilman DeWayne (Tilley) Studler of Missouri; and a sister, Freda Fleck of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Edinburgh with Father Chris Wadelton officiating.
Family and friends may call from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike and 9:30 a.m. to time of service Monday at the church.
Cremation will take place following the service and a private graveside inurnment service will be held at a later date at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
