Bull Dogs blank Cards

Despite resting No. 1 singles player Nathan Lin, sixth-ranked Columbus North dropped only three games in five matches Thursday in rolling to a 5-0 Conference Indiana win against Southport.

Bhavey Jain moved up to No. 1 singles for the Bull Dogs (3-0, 1-0) and blanked Johnny Lian 6-0, 6-0. Adam Saad beat Brendan Tyler at No. 2 singles, and Joseph Kolepfer downed Micah Fisher at No. 3 singles, both by 6-1, 6-0 scores.

North’s Matthew Liu and Joey Zhao topped Thang Chin and Rokim Thang 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Eamon Ma and Atharva Kute blanked Drew Youmans and Sam Stone 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

East gets first win

Columbus East picked up its first win of the season Thursday, a 5-0 victory against Madison.

Pranav Kumar beat Haniah Kring 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Derek Heideman downed Quinten Humes 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 singles for the Olympians (1-3). Danny Murphy won by forfeit at No. 3 singles.

East’s Emmit Romine and Matthew Degner beat Dalton Owen and Reece Whicker 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Wyatt Romine and Bridger Wagner topped Emerson Cardinal and Matthew Burkhardt 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Jets fall to Royals

CHARLOTTESVILLE — Hauser won at No. 1 singles, but that was all in a 4-1 loss Thursday at Eastern Hancock.

Ethan Wallace beat Kodey Huff 7-6 (4), 6-2 at No. 1 singles for the Jets (0-2).

Hauser’s Levi Gollmer fell to Nolan Stout 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and Carson Rose lost to Zeke Dixon 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Caleb Hoover and Keagan Miller fell to Brady Smith and John McDaniel 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and. Alex Pattingill and Dawson Paul lost to Sam Blocher and Bryce Wennen 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Eagles edge Stars

NASHVILLE — Brown County swept the singles matches in pulling out a 3-2 win Thursday against Bedford North Lawrence.

Aaron McCann beat Adam Tluster 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Josh Miller downed Cameron Grartzer 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Reid Davis topped Konley Woodard 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (4-1).

Brown County’s Aiden Burt and Nolan Patterson fell to Cade Provo and Wyatt Scherschel 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Spencer Blee and Noah Cochran lost to Steven Graham and Graham Turner 6-1, 6-7 (4), 7-5 at No. 2 doubles.

Owls blank Panthers

SEYMOUR — Seymour won four matches in straight sets in handing Jennings County a 5-0 defeat on Thursday.

Wyatt St. John fell to Vincent Camboulas 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Owen Law lost to Isaac Hardin 5-7, 6-3, (11-9) at No. 2 singles and Gage Gasper fell to Braden Handloser 6-3, 6-0 at no. 3 singles for the Panthers (1-5).

Joe Kelley and Jacob Vogel lost to Will Rinehart and Brandon Hubbard 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Alex Leach and Justin Ramey fell to Trey Hohenstreiter and Andrew Levine 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Braves stop Lancers

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh claimed a win at No. 1 singles, but Indian Creek took the other four matches Thursday in a 4-1 decision.

Brayden McManaway beat Jake Mitchell 2-6, 6-0, 7-5 at No. 1 singles for the Lancers (0-3).

Edinburgh’s Kolton Reed fell to Case Mitchell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Travis Jones lost to Garett Dalton 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. North outscores Bears

SHELBYVILLE — Nathaly Munnicha fired a 35 to lead sixth-ranked Columbus North to a 154-183 win against Shelbyville Thursday at River’s Edge.

Yestika Nischol carded a 38 for the Bull Dogs. Gwen Anderson added a 40, Annie Anderson shot 41, Ella Wilks had a 42 and Macy Euler finished with a 43.

Eagles win tri match

CLAYTON — Brown County won a tri match Wednesday at Deer Creek. The Eagles finished with a 214 to 219 for South Putnam 219 and 221 for Monrovia.

Avery Patterson led the Eagles with a 51. Taylor Poling carded a 52, Allison Stogsdill added a 54, Courtney Hill shot 57, Aubrey Hollander had a 58 and Annika Evenson and Kennedy Root each shot 62.

Rebels sweep Bull Dogs

INDIANAPOLIS — Colubmus North came closer in each set Thursday, but fell 25-9, 25-15, 25-16 at Roncalli.

Emma Tynan pounded nine kills, Reagan Kane recorded 10 assists, Madison White had two blocks, Jalynn Reardon tallied 17 digs and Kane and Sydney Cooper each served one ace to lead the Bull Dogs (1-3).

Also for North, Madi Roop and Bennett each notched three kills, and Gabby Genth added two kills. Kate Whaley contributed four assists, and Bennett and Gabby each had one block.

Jets stay unbeaten

INDIANAPOLIS — Class A No. 6 Hauser remained undefeated with a 25-21, 25-17, 26-24 win Thursday at Indianapolis Lutheran.

Hannah Johnson recorded 15 kills and five blocks, and Shelby Fugate had 19 digs and three aces to lead the Jets (7-0). Aunaka Wasil tallied 33 assists, Kylie Lock notched 19 digs and Andi Clark served three aces.

Also for Hauser, Olivia Wright pounded six kills and one block. Fugate added two kills, Lock had two assists, Melanie Taylor assed one assist, Clark contributed 13 digs and Wasil served two aces.

Panthers prevail in 5

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County pulled out a thrilling 25-14, 23-25, 25-18, 24-26, 15-12 Hoosier Hills Conference win against Bedford North Lawrence.

Abi Vogel pounded 24 kills, Liz Ertel recorded 25 assists, Grace Ramey had six solos and five assists blocks, Hanah Bertram tallied 36 digs and Carmen Kopitzke served seven aces to lead the Panthers (4-3, 1-1).

Also for Jennings, Ertel notched four solo and five assist blocks and five aces. Grace Ramey added 10 kills, Carmen Kopitzke had 21 assists and Vogel contributed 18 digs.

Trinity tops Franklin

SEYMOUR — Class A No. 3 Trinity Lutheran survived a close first set Thursday, then cruised in the final two to a 25-23, 25-18, 25-15 win against Franklin.

Bailey Reynolds led the Cougars (3-1) with 37 assists and five aces. Hannah Sabotin pounded 17 kills, while Sydney Jaynes added 10 kills, Bailey Tabeling had nine kills and Kennedy Hoffman contributed seven kills.

Panthers nip Jets

HOPE — Hauser outshot Knightstown 7-6 Thursday, but the Panthers claimed a 2-1 victory.

Cameron Scott scored the goal for the Jets (0-2). Caleb Walker recorded four saves.

Cubs edge Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County opened its Hoosier Hills Conference schedule Thursday with a 2-1 loss to Madison.

Ethan Stidham scored the goal for the Panthers (1-3, 0-1) off an assist from Mason Pittman. Cameron Woodard posted 10 saves.

Spartans topple Eagles

NASHVILLE — Brown County scored first, but Southwestern (Shelby) rallied for a 3-1 victory on Thursday.

Caleb Yeager scored off an asisst from Sam Normile for the Eagles (0-3). Ethan Scott recorded 20 saves.

Jennings falls to Floyd

FLOYDS KNOBS — Jennings County scored a goal against one of the top teams in the HHC, but came away with a 4-1 loss Thursday at Floyd Central.

Morgan Lane scored off an assist from Baylee Byford for the Panthers (1-2, 0-2).

The Highlanders outshot Jennings 18-2. Kenna Maschino played the first half in goal and posted six saves, and Tori Lee recorded nine saves in the second half.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Cougar boys third

South Decatur’s boys finished third, and the Cougar girls took fourth in their Inaugural Small School invitational at Southeastern Baptist Youth Camp.

Jac-Cen Del won the boys meet with 20 points to 59 for South Ripley and 63 for South Decatur. South Ripley captured the girls meet with 35 points to 43 for Jac-Cen-Del, 58 for North Decatur and 79 for the Cougars.

Trevor Newby led the boys with a third-place finish in 18 minutes, 56 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Nick Keppel took fifth in 19:30, while Logan Platt was 15th (20:59) Jack Hamilton 20th (22:10), Chase Kalli 27th (23:08) and Tyler Hibberd 30th (23:46).

Sierra Kalli finished fourth in 23:01 to lead the girls. Ali Boilanger took 20th in 27:33, while Abigail Collins was 21st (27:50), Claire Hamilton 22nd (28:08) and Addison Baltus 24th (29:22)
