New I-65 traffic configuration announced for south of Columbus

A traffic switch is planned for the I-65 road project between Seymour and Columbus, beginning Tuesday.

The contractor will switch southbound traffic from the 61.2 mile marker to the 58.5 mile marker back to the southbound lanes, according to Bartholomew County Emergency Management.

Once traffic reaches the 58.5 mile marker, traffic will be shifted back to the northbound lanes from the 58.5 mile marker to the 56 mile marker where traffic will cross back over to the southbound lanes. Northbound traffic will stay in the same configuration that it is already traveling in.

Crews will then proceed to move barrier wall to the southbound lanes. During the night of Sept. 5th, the northbound traffic will cross over at the 58.5 MM and stay in the southbound lanes until the 61.2 mile marker before switching back to the northbound lanes. The crossover at the 61.2 marker is the same one that has been in place and the one at the 58.5 MM is the same one that was installed in May and then removed.

In addition to these changes, the following bridge closures have also been announced, causing road closings:

  • Enos Road will be closed starting on or after Monday, Sept. 16th.
  • Redding Road will be closed starting on or after Monday, Sept. 16th.
  • County Road 950S will be closed starting on or after Monday, Sept. 16th.
