
DUPONT
Mrs. Phyllis Jean Caswell Burnette, age 75, of Dupont, Indiana entered this life on February 5, 1944 in Manville in Jefferson County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Wilmer Glen and Opal Holland Meek Caswell. Phyllis was raised in the Manville Christian Church and was a member of the Dupont Baptist Church. She had resided in the Dupont area since 1959.
She was married to Thomas William Burnette on February 21, 1961 in Bedford, Kentucky. She was a homemaker and farmer wife and kept busy helping her husband with the daily life of the farm. Phyllis also had worked outside the farm assisting at Jay’s Market, Dave’s Sureway, Walmart Snack Bar, Madison Care Center, and J & R Grocery. She enjoyed her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Earlier in life she was known for her delicious meals that she prepared, gardening, canning, and singing around the home. In her later years she was lovingly cared for at home by her devoted husband and family as her illness progressed.
Phyllis died on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at 10:43 a.m. at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana with her loving family at her side.

Phyllis will be missed by her loving husband of 58 years, Thomas William Burnette; her loving sons, Donald Scholl and his wife Darlene of Trimble County, Kentucky, Greg Burnette (Kelly Hunt) of Columbus, Indiana, Kevin Burnette and his wife Tanya of Dupont, Indiana; her loving daughter, Kim Huff (Mark Hord) of Madison, Indiana; her brother, Eugene Caswell and his wife, Sharon of Hanover, Indiana; her sister, Ellen Lucas of Madison, Indiana; her loving grandchildren, Gretchen, Joel, Kayla, Ashley, Trey, Amber, Daymond, Corey, and Eliza; her adoring great grandchildren, Zach, Ty, Kamden, Ty, Scotlyn, Beau, Jacquelyn, Harper, Hudson, Finn, and Maggie; her sisters in law, Marilyn Birge of Madison, Indiana, Connie Bragg and her husband, Malcolm of Hanover, Indiana, Mary Lou Halcomb and her husband, Harold of Madison, Indiana; her devoted friends, Carol Becker, Jane Morris, and Carol McQueary; her loving care-giver, Jennifer Poggel; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilmer Glen Caswell, her mother, Opal Holland Meek Caswell, her brother, Ricky Caswell, and her sister, Alice Griffin.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 9, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor Don Hamilton and Pastor A.J. Billings at the Dupont Baptist Church, 624 West South Street in Dupont, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, Indiana.
VISITATION
Friends may visit Sunday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Dupont Baptist Church, 624 West South Street in Dupont, Indiana.
