North wins own invite

Columbus North dominated the competition in its own invitational Saturday. The co-No. 5-ranked Bull Dogs blanked Batesville, Madison and Providence all by 5-0 scores.

Against Batesville, Nathan Lin won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Bhavey Jain prevailed 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for North. Adam Saad at No. 3 singles, Matthew Liu and Joey Zhao at No. 1 doubles and Eamon Ma and Will King at No. 2 doubles all won by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

Against Madison, Lin won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Luke Enneking triumphed 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Joseph Kloepfer and Atharva Kute rolled 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Saad at No. 2 singles and Ma and King at No. 2 doubles won by withdraws.

Against Providence, Lin won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Jain prevailed 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Saad triumphed 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (10-0). Liu and Zhao won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Ma and King won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

East finishes fifth

SHELBYVILLE — Columbus East finished fifth out of six teams in the Shelbyville Invitational.

Co-No. 8 Westfield captured the team title.

East stays unbeaten

FISHERS — Class 3A No. 9 Columbus East picked up two goals in the first half and hung on for a 3-2 victory at Class 3A No. 16 Fishers to remain unbeaten.

Eric Stiles netted both goals in the first half for the Olympians (8-0-1), and Chris Quisenberry scored the second-half goal. Stiles and Quisenberry each had an assist.

East took nine shots, with five on goal, while The Tigers had nine shots with six on goal. Zach Roberts recorded four saves.

Kings blanks Crusaders

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus Christian had a tough day in an 8-0 loss at Kings Academy.

Kings outshot the Crusaders (0-4-1) 18-5. Avery Hammond posted five saves.

Eagles down Arrows

NASHVILLE — Will Normile scored two goals to lead Brown County to a 5-2 Western Indiana Conference win against Sullivan.

Caleb Yager, Logan Huddleson and Sam Normile all scored one goal for the Eagles (4-4-1, 2-2-1). Yager had two assists.

Brown County outshot the Arrows 18-6. Wyatt Fox recorded three saves.

Red Devils top Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County dropped a 4-0 Hoosier Hills Conference decision to Jeffersonville.

Cameron Woodard posted 16 saves for the Panthers (1-9, 0-3).

Bull Dogs win again

LAWRENCEBURG — Jenna Lang netted two goals and an assist to lead Class 3A No. 19 Columbus North to a 3-1 win at 2A No. 5 Lawrenceburg.

Lauren Barker scored the other goal for the Bull Dogs (8-1), who won for the eighth consecutive time. Riley Schumm added an assist.

North outshot the Tigers 16-5. Kaylyn Bates recorded four saves.

East ties Floyd Central

FLOYDS KNOBS — Columbus East rallied from a 1-0 deficit to take a 2-1 halftime lead, but Floyd Central scored the equalizer in the final minute to forge a 2-2 Hoosier Hills Conference tie.

Alana Dwenger and Kathleen Soedel scored the goals for the Olympians (4-3-2, 2-0-1). Maya Federle and Soedel had assists.

Both teams finished with five shots on goal. Karisma Parker posted two saves.

Bulldogs blank Panthers

NEW ALBANY — New Albany held Jennings County without a shot in handing the Panthers a 4-0 HHC loss.

The Bulldogs managed 11 shots. Kenna Maschino played the first 60 minutes in goal and recorded six saves for the Panthers (8-3, 1-3), and Carissa Sablehaus added seven saves over the final 20 minutes.

Arrows edge Eagles

NASHVILLE — Brown County spent the majority of the game on the offensive half of the field, but Sullivan snuck in a first-half goal to claim a 1-0 WIC win.

The Arrows outshot the Eagles (0-6-1, 0-3-1) 15-11. Sarah Callahan posted 14 saves.

Tigers rout Panthers

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran scored three goals in the first half and three in the second half for a 6-0 victory over Corydon Central.

Kailene Cockerham and Emma Myers each netted two goals, and Emma Goecker and Sarah Lemming each added one goal for the Cougars (4-4). Lemming recorded two saves), and Cockerham and Goecker each had one save to combine for the shutout in goal.

North girls runner-up

NASHVILLE — Despite resting top runner Mackenzie Barnett, the No. 5 Columbus North girls finished second in the Elite Girls Race in Brown County’s Eagle Classic. No. 3 Carmel won with 72 points to 106 for the Bull Dogs, 139 for No. 6 Bloomington North and 141 for No. 10 Floyd Central.

Brianna Newell led the Bull Dogs with a ninth-place finish in 18 minutes, 45.0 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Olivia Morlok took 14th in 18:52.2, while Lily Baker was 25th (19:14.8), Sydney Morlok 26th (19:18.3), Ellen White 47th (19:43.5), Jessica Meza 48th (19:44.1), Aric Tong 65th (20:07.2) and Kennedy Kerber 66th (20:08.3).

No. 5 Columbus North rested its top seven boys and finished 16th with 415 points in the Elite Boys Race. No. 23 Jennings County finished sixth with 182 points. No. 2 Carmel won with 83, followed by No. 7 Brebeuf Jesuit (100), No. 8 Bloomington South (130), No. 24 Jasper (170) and No. 13 Floyd Central (175).

Carter Leak finished 13th in 16:01.6 to lead Jennings. Lane Elsner took 21st in 16:14.6, while Gavin Hendrix was 26th (16:17.1), Drew Stroud 66th (16:49.8) and AJ Siener 85th (17:08.9).

For the Bull Dogs, Will Kiel finished 56th in 16:41.3. Gabe Wills took 72nd in 16:53.3, while Dominic Hovis was 116th (17:46.0), Jackson Davis 117th (17:46.1) and Wil Littrell 144th (18:48.7).

The Jennings girls competed in the AA race and finished fourth with 158 points. Lawrence North won with 37. Emma Morrison led the Panthers with a fourth-place finish in 19:58.2, while Elizabeth Wahlman was 19th (21:20.3), Halle Franks 21st (21:25.5), Heather Sea 23rd (21:29.8) and Emily Waldo 99th (24:29.1).

Brown County finished fourth in the A Girls Race with 166 points. Oak Hill won with 52. Brown County’s Hadley Gradolf took second in 19:34.4, while Anna Fleetwood was 11th (21:10.2), Emma DeBord 17th (21:30.5), Maris Wyman 67th (24:34.5) and Paige Moore 87th (26:41.0).

In the A Boys Race, Brown County finished seventh with 206 points. Oak Hill won with 42. Chase Austin took eighth in 16:49.3 for Brown County, while Rafe Silbaugh was 43rd (18:12.0), Cameron Fox 56th (18:41.2), Rhett Silbaugh 57th (18:47.6) and Waylon Patrick 64th (19:12.3).

Edinburgh and Trinity Lutheran had individual runners compete in the A races. Trinity’s Evan Hunt finished 111th in the A Boys Race in 24:45.2.

Trinity’s Sadie Nay finished 61st in the A Girls Race in 24:20.8, while Abby Hildreth took 105th in 29:32.7 and Bryanna Bailey was 109th in 30:53.2. Edinburgh’s Ciera Myers finished 106th in 29:45.7, and Cloee Britton was 113th in 31:26.4.

East girls take 13th

INDIANAPOLIS — The Columbus East girls finished 13th in the Ben Davis Invitational with 314 points, and the Olympian boys were 14th with 413 points. No. 10 Center Grove won the boys meet with 30 points, and No. 7 Noblesville captured the girls title with 35 points.

Olivia Linnemann led the East girls with a 43rd-place finish in 21:03.34. Olivia Shoaf took 64th in 21:44.78, while Laurel Knight was 67th (21:47.19), Chloe Krueger 71st (21:58.52) and Elizabeth Stevens 97th (22:50.63).

Ryan Sadtler finished 86th in 18:38.56 to lead the Olympian boys. Colby Hertle took 88th in 18:41.46, while Tyler Hertle was 103rd (19:02.73), Casey Bartholomew 107th (19:14.58) and Kaleb Walters 114th (19:28.10).

Jet boys finish ninth

WHITELAND — Hauser’s boys finished ninth in the Whiteland Invitational with 226 points. Whiteland won with 44.

Ryan Ault led the Jets with an eighth-place finish in 17:16.35. Noah Estes took 42nd in 19:04.35, while Alex Bower was 57th (20:03.39), Tanner Ault 60th (20:15.81) and Cameron Toole 20:57.17.

Hauser had three girls runners, two short of the number needed to score as a team. Kaitlyn Everroad finished 53rd in 27:07.50, while Addison Jones took 56th in 27:40.84 and Lexi Tallent was 63rd in 32:42.05.

Crusaders sweep Bulldogs

CANNELTON — Columbus Christian survived a close first set before going on to post a 25-22, 25-8, 25-19 win at Cannelton.

Hannah Stair led the Crusaders (5-0) with 23 assists and 15 aces. Lauren Hunnicutt recorded 10 kills and three digs, and Madison Henderson had seven kills, four digs and two aces.

Also for Columbus Christian, Ellie Ridder added seven kills and two digs. Emily Stair tallied four digs and one ace, Ann Marie Gandy pounded four kills and Kayla Jones served three aces.

Hawks go 1-2-1

TERRE HAUTE — After dropping their first five sets, the Columbus Hawks on their final three to finish 1-2-1 in four two-set matches in the Wabash Valley Tournament.

The Hawks (3-7-1) lost both sets to the Northpoint Panthers from Fishers and Family First Educators Crusaders from Greene County before splitting sets with the Wabash Warriors from Terre Haute and sweeping the Tippecanoe Tornados from Lafayette.

Eagles fall in four

NASHVILLE — Brown County won the first set, but Sullivan rallied for a 22-25, 25-16, 29-27, 25-19 WIC victory.

Chloe Lee led the Eagles (7-3) with 14 kills and two solo blocks. Abigail Hollander recorded 22 assists, Lauren Akles had five block assists, Mary Rigiel takkled 11 digs and Londyn Koester served two aces.

Also for Brown County, Rygiel and Myka Snyder each pounded five kills. Milly Patrick and Natalie Suding each added six digs.

Trinity goes 2-1

BEDFORD — Class A No. 3 Trinity Lutheran won two of three in the Bedford North Lawrence Invitational, beating Terre Haute South 25-12, 23-25, 15-7; falling to New Albany 17-25, 25-18, 15-9 and beating Martinsville 26-24, 25-18.

Sydney Jaynes led the Cougars (14-5) with 30 kills and eight blocks. Bailey Reynolds recorded 66 assists, Bailey Tabeling had eight blocks, Kamzi Gross tallied 32 digs and Ruthie Bingham served five aces.

Also for Trinity, Tabeling pounded 17 kills, and Kennedy Hoffman added 15 kills. Elly Cater notched 20 digs, Paige Reynolds added 12 digs and Paige Lawrence had four aces.

Lancers win MHC

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh captured the Mid-Hoosier Conference Tournament on its home course. The Lancers finished with a 416 team total to 449 for Southwestern (Shelby) and 522 for Morristown, while North Decatur was incomplete.

Morgan Calhoun finished second individually with a 90 to lead the Lancers, while Maddy McGaha took third with a 101 and Annelise Lollar was sixth with a 108 to join them on the All-Conference team. Haven Link added a 117, and Jillian Turner had a 130.

Lancers fall in 2 OTs

VEVAY — Switzerland County needed two overtimes before handing Edinburgh a 22-14 loss on Friday.

In the second overtime, the Pacers got the ball first and scored on a 3-yard run and two-point conversion. The Lancers (0-4) were hit with a penalty to start its possession, and backed up to the 15-yard line, never recovered. Their fourth down pass to the corner of the end zone went off the hands of the intended receiver.

Braves down Eagles

NASHVILLE — Indian Creek jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and never let up in handing Brown County a 42-14 loss Friday.

Kody Walsh had a 44-yard touchdown run, and Seth Oliphant combined with Javan Oliphant for 64-yard scoring pass for the Eagles (2-2, 0-1).
