A fire destroyed a vacant home that was being remodeled on Columbus’ north side.
Columbus firefighters responded to a residential fire at 810 Rocky Ford Road at about 3:31 a.m. Saturday after a passerby called 911 and advised the Emergency Operations Center dispatchers that a home was engulfed in flames, said Capt. Mike Wilson, spokesman for Columbus Fire Department.
The property is owned by Homes By Kenno LLC, according to online Bartholomew County property records, Wilson said.

As firefighters from three fire stations approached, Station 2 responders informed dispatchers that flames were visible from Central Avenue. Engine Co. 1 arrived first and reported that the home was fully engulfed, and a large section of roof and wall had collapse prior to their arrival, Wilson said.
Firefighters fought the blaze for about 45 minutes before it was considered under control, Wilson said. No injuries were reported at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damages are estimated at $160,000 and the home is considered a total loss, Wilson said.
Agencies that assisted at the scene include the Columbus Police Department, Columbus Regional Health EMS, Columbus City Utilities, Vectren and Duke Energy.
