East sweeps Panthers

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus East survived a close first set before going on to post a 28-26, 25-14, 25-17 win at Bloomington South.

Regann Jessee led the Olympians (11-7) with 10 kills and two blocks. Reece Whitehead pounded 10 kills, Gabby Dean had two blocks, Allison Mack tallied 22 digs and Rilee Jessee served three aces.

Rilee Jessee also recorded nine kills and 18 digs, and Mack added eight kills. Kenzie Foster notched 11 digs, Cadence Gilley contributed eight digs and Regann Jessee had two aces.

Jets clinch title share

HOPE — Class A No. 10 Hauser clinched at least a share of the Mid-Hoosier Conference title with a 25-22, 25-20, 25-23 win against North Decatur.

Andie Clark led the Jets (18-6, 5-0) with 19 digs and three aces. Hannah Johnson pounded 12 kills, Aunaka Wasil recorded 32 assists and Kylie Lock tallied 19 digs.

Also for Hauser, Lock notched 10 kills and one assist, and Fugate added eight kills, one assist, one block, 14 digs and one ace. Johnson served two aces.

Hawks rally for win

PLAINFIELD — The Columbus Hawks rallied from a two-set deficit to pull out a 17-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-16, 16-14 win against the Tippecanoe Tornados in a match played in Plainfield.

McKiah Shearer recorded 11 kills, 11 assists and one block, and Caleigh Owen had a block and six aces to lead the Hawks (3-12-1). Hailey Beth Rutledge tallied 20 digs.

Also for the Hawks, Lila Hudson notched six kills and five aces, and Sarah Lorimor added 10 assists and 15 digs Natalie Arnold had 10 digs.

Panthers win in four

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County rallied from a one-set deficit to post a 22-25, 25-17, 25-20, 26-24 Hoosier Hills Conference win against Madison.

Abi Vogel pounded 11 kills, Megan Vogel recorded 11 assists, Grace Ramey had one solo and six assist blocks, Liz Ertel added five assist blocks, Hanah Bertram tallied 26 digs and Karma Warren served three aces to lead the Panthers (10-17, 2-4).

Also for Jennings, Ertel and Caitlin Hurley each notched seven kills, and Carmen Kopitzke added eight assists and two aces. Warren contributed nine digs, and Bertram and Megan Vogel each had two aces.

Twisters sweep Cougars

OLDENBURG — South Decatur came closer in each set, but fell to Oldenburg Academy 25-14, 25-17, 25-21.

Lana Bell pounded seven kills and a block, Ali Jameson recorded eight assists and an ace, Brook Somers had one block and one ace and Lily Rigby tallied 12 digs and an ace to lead the Cougars (3-22). Kalie Fry also served an ace.

Also for South Decatur, Somers notched six kills, and Loryn Pate added five kills. Whitnye Burton contributed four assists, and Jameson added eight digs.

GIRLS SOCCER

North rallies for win

BATESVILLE — Class 3A No. 11 Columbus North gave up an own goal early in the game and rallied with three goals in the final 13 minutes to post a 3-1 win at 2A No. 11 Batesville.

Nadia Zabrowski scored the tying goal off an assist from Jenna Lang in the 68th minute for the Bull Dogs (13-2). Lang scored off an assist from Lauren Barker a minute later, then added the final goal in the 79th minute.

North outshot Batesville 29-9. Kaylyn Bates recorded eight saves.

Panthers edge Cougars

NORTH VERNON — Katie Pappenheim scored the game’s lone goal in the 65th minute to lift Jennings County to a 1-0 win against Trinity Lutheran.

Morgan Lane had the assist for the Panthers (11-6), who outshot the Cougars (7-5) 10-7.

Jennings’ Carissa Sablehaus played the first 62 minutes and posted six saves. Tori Lee played the last 18 minutes and had one save for the Panthers.

GCA nips Eagles

NASHVILLE — Brown County jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the first half, but Greenwood Christian Academy rallied for a 5-4 win.

Marley Nickels and Izzy Rygiel each scored two goals for the Eagles (1-12-1), who were outshot 18-15. Sarah Callahan recorded 13 saves.

Jets finish with win

HOPE — Hauser wrapped up the regular season with a 4-1 win against Indianapolis Lutheran.

Ethan Wallace was leading Jonas Akers 3-2 in the first set when Akers retired. Sam Miller beat Reece Bullock 3-6, 7-6, (11-9) at No. 3 singles, Caleb Hoover and Levi Gollmer downed Cade Tabit and Isaac Vance 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles and Alex Pattingill and Eli Miller blanked Dylan Robertson and Spencer Barnett 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles for the Jets (4-10).

Hauser’s Keagan Miller fell to Cole Perkins 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

Eagles blank Wolverines

ELLETTSVILLE — Brown County picked up its 20th win of the season with a 5-0 victory against White River Valley in a match played at Edgewood.

Aaron McCann beat Cooper Banning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Josh Miller downed Trey Carpenter 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Reid Davis topped Conner Banning 4-6, 6-4, (11-9) at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (20-2).

Brown County’s Aiden Burt and Nolan Patterson beat Clayton Hoover and Carter Hostetter 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1 doubles. Noah Cochran and Spencer Blee downed Jon Clevenger and Lane Skinner 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Hauser boys win

MORRISTOWN — Hauser’s boys claimed the top four spots in running to an 18-37 win at Morristown.

Ryan Ault won in 17 minutes, 49 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles) to lead the Jets. Noah Estes finished second in 20:19, while Tanner Ault was third (20:31), Alex Bower fourth (20:51) and Cameron Toole eighth (23:47).

Neither girls team had the five runners needed to score as a team. Hauser’s Kaitlynn Everroad finished second in 27:29, while Addison Jones took third in 28:38 and Lexi Tallent was fourth in 31:43.

Panthers, Eagles tie

NORTH VERNON — Brown County three times overcame one-goal deficits to forge a 3-3 tie at Jennings County.

Michael Pemberton, Gavin Gunn and Ethan Stidham scored goals for the Panthers (1-13-1). Nathan Davis had an assist.

Caleb Yager scored all three goals for the Eagles (5-6-3). Sam Normile had an assist.

Brown County outshot Jennings 19-16. Wyatt Fox posted 11 saves for the Eagles. Cameron Woodard recorded five saves for the Panthers.
