A report of a suspicious person on Wednesday morning resulted in a Freetown man being arrested after officers determined he gave them a false name and methamphetamine was found in his clothing.

CPD officers responded to the area of 11th Street and Washington Street at 6:50 a.m. about a man acting suspiciously around a vehicle, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers found the man a short time later and determined he had given them a false name.

The man was taken into custody and officers confirmed his identity as Donovan A. Martin, 22, of Freetown, Harris said.

While searching Martin, officers located methamphetamine in his pants pockets, Harris said.

Martin was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine and false informing, Harris said.

Martin was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $61,000 bond, jail officials said.
