Third-ranked Columbus North had no trouble putting away Brown County 5-0 in Thursday’s semifinal round of the North Sectional.
The Bull Dogs will meet Hauser, which edged Edinburgh 3-2 in the other semifinal.
North (17-0) did not drop a game in winning all five positions.
Nathan Lin beat Aaron McCann at No. 1 singles, Bhavey Jain downed Josh Miller at No. 2 singles and Adam Saad topped Reid Davis for the Bull Dogs.
At No. 1 doubles, Matthew Liu and Joey Zhao won against Aiden Burt and Nolan Patterson. At No. 2 doubles, Eamon Ma and Will King defeated Spencer Blee and Noah Cochran.
Brown County finishes the regular season 20-3.
“I told them coming to play like a 20-2 team and not a 2-20 team. I told them to play hard and play the type of tennis that got them to where they are at, and the chips will fall where they fall,” Brown County coach Kevin Roush said. “We’re not going to hang our hats after one match. It’s an uphill battle every time we come here. We’ve always shown good sportsmanship and character, and the hallmark of our team has been character, and we showed that.”
In the other semifinal, with the match tied at 2-2, the deciding point came at No. 3 singles where Hauser’s Keagan Miller defeated Edinburgh’s Travis Jones 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
The other matches where not as close. For the Jets (5-10), Ethan Wallace defeated Brayden McManaway 6-1, 6-2 at No 1 singles, and Caleb Hoover and Levi Gollmer topped Parker Neumann and Chase Littlejohn 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
The Lancers wins came at No. 2 singles, where Max Blandford topped Sam Miller 6-1, 6-1, and at No. 2 doubles, where Kolton Reed and Preston Smith downed Alex Pattingill and Eli Miller 6-2, 6-1.
Edinburgh finished 4-11.
