Jets sweep Twisters

OLDENBURG — Class A No. 10 Hauser went on the road and claimed a 25-19, 25-18, 25-20 victory at Oldenburg Academy.

Aunaka Wasil led the Jets (19-7) with 24 assists and three aces. Shelby Fugate pounded 11 kills, Olivia Wright had three blocks and Andie Clark tallied 19 digs.

Also for Hauser, Wright and Kylie Lock each notched eight kills, while Kylie Lock recorded 18 digs and Melanie Taylor added three assists and 16 digs. Andie Clark contributed four assists and one ace, Stephanie Meek had two blocks, Marnie Schwartzkopf added one block and Mary Branum served two aces.

Panthers fall in 4

SCOTTSBURG — Jennings County won the third set, but Scottsburg recovered to finish off a 25-13, 25-19, 13-25, 25-20 victory.

Hanah Bertram led the Panthers (10-18) with 19 digs and seven aces. Abi Vogel pounded seven kills, Megan Vogel recorded eight assists, and Liz Ertel had 14 block assists.

Also for Jennings, Shelby Wilson tallied four kills, Grace Ramey notched 11 block assists and Abi Vogel added three solo and nine assist blocks. Karma Warren served four aces.

Cougars stop Shiners

GREENSBURG — South Decatur won for the second time this week, matching its previous total for the entire season, with a 25-21, 25-16, 16-25, 25-23 victory against Rising Sun.

Lana Bell led the Cougars (4-22) with 13 kills, two blocks 20 digs and two aces. Whitnye Burton recorded 13 assists, and Lily Rigby, Kalie Fry and Ali Jameson all served two aces.

Also for South Decatur, Brook Somers pounded 10 kills and a block, and Loryn Pate added a block. Jameson notched 10 assists, Kalie Fry tallied 17 digs and Rigby added 14 digs.

Trinity tops Lions

LOOGOOTEE — Class A No. 1 Trinity Lutheran needed five sets to pull out a 25-17, 22-25, 25-15, 23-25, 15-13 win at Loogootee.

Hannah Sabotin led the Cougars (23-5) with 28 kills and four blocks. Bailey Reynolds recorded 53 assists, Kamzi Gross tallied 31 digs and Kennedy Hoffman served two aces.

Also for Trinity, Sydney Jaynes pounded 12 kills and one block, and Bailey Tabeling added eight kills. Elly Carter notched 15 digs, Hoffman contributed six digs and Ruthie Bingham had two aces.

Artesians blank Eagles

MARTINSVILLE — Brown County was missing six starters in a 5-0 loss at Martinsville to close the regular season.

The Artesians outshot the Eagles (5-7-3) 22-6. Wyatt Fox recorded nine saves.

Jet boys take sixth

GREENSBURG — Hauser’s boys finished sixth, and South Decatur took eighth in the Greensburg Invitational.

Ryan Ault led the Jets with a fourth-polace finish in 17 minutes, 47.49 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Noah Estes took 35th in 20:19.51, while Alex Bower was 40th (20:24.50), Tanner Ault 59th (21:31.63) and Cameron Toole 67th (22:15.86).

Trevor Newby finished 17th in 19:11.88 to lead the Cougars. Nick Keppel took 47th in 20:41.32, while Logan Platt was 60th (21:40.71), Jack Hamilton 66th (22:14.48) and Tyler Hibberd 71st (22:51.03).

Trinity Lutheran’s lone runner, Jordan Peters, finished 87th in 25:42.08.

South Decatur’s girls finished seventh with 154 points. Sierra Kalli took 18th in 23:24.13, while Ali Boilanger was 31st (26:03.39), Claire Hamilton 34th (26:17.62), Addison Baltus 46th (28:25.91) and Elizabeth Flessner 53rd (30:11.83).

Hauser and Trinity Lutheran each had three girls runners. For the Jets, Kaitlyn Everroad was 45th in 28:17.77, Addison Jones 48th (28:37.59) and Lexi Tallent 56th (32:50.79).

Sadie Nay finished 32nd in 26:03.78 for the Cougars, while Abby Hildreth was 55th (31:05.94) and Bry Bailey 57th (33:15.07).

Rebels edge Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County saw its season come to an end with a 3-2 loss to Southwestern (Hanover) in the semifinals of the Jennings Sectional.

Wyatt St. John beat Landon DeAtley 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Justin Ramey downed Mason Lichlyter 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Panthers (5-14).

Jennings’ Owen Law fell to Jordan DeAtley 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Joe Kelley and Jacob Vogel lost to Foster Mefford and Zach Cole 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Alex Leach and Gage Gasper fell to Carter Harmon and Derrick Osborn 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Owls oust Cougars

SEYMOUR — Seymour won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win against Trinity Lutheran in the semifinals of the Seymour Sectional.

Jace Crockett fell to Vincent Camboulas 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Noah Voelker lost to Isaac Hardin 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Chenjun Jiang fell to Braden Handloser topped 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Cougars (3-17).

Trinity’s Cameron Gruenwald and Jack VonDielingen lost to Will Rinehart and Brandon Hubbard 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Luke Pollert and Nathan Voelker fell to Trey Hohenstreiter and Andrew Levine 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
