A local woman was arrested on a drug possession charge after the vehicle she was passenger in was stopped for a traffic violation early this morning.
Officers stopped the vehicle at 12:15 a.m. today for a minor traffic infraction near 16th Street and Home Avenue, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
A CPD canine officer responded to the scene a short time later and the officer advised that the police service dog alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle, Harris said.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located drug paraphernalia, several syringes, and a small amount of methamphetamine near where Holly A. Caldwell, 32, of Columbus had been seated inside the vehicle.
Caldwell was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges — possession of a legend drug injection device, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.
