A local woman was arrested on multiple drug-related charges after a traffic stop.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Bush was near the intersection of Second and Sycamore streets at 8:23 p.m. Thursday when he saw a passenger car with no lights, deputies said.
Bush stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver identified as Carrie Pitts, 45, Columbus, deputies said.
While speaking with Pitts, Bush smelled a heavy odor of marijuana coming from inside her vehicle, deputies said. A vape pen was located as well as two corner cut baggies – one containing a grey powder suspected to be heroin and the other containing a white powder believed to be methamphetamine, deputies said.
Pitts was given a written warning for having no taillights but was remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
She was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $126,000 bond, jail officials said.
