The fall installment of Bartholomew County property taxes is due Tuesday. Those who wish to pay in person at the county treasurer’s office, 440 Third St. are reminded that the office will be closed Monday for Veteran’s Day.
When taxes are delinquent, making partial payments does not relieve the tax payer of late penalties, fees or of the property being subject to tax sale, Bartholomew County Treasurer Barb Hackman said.
But there are several different ways to pay, the treasurer said. Payments can be placed inside a 24-hour drop box outside the county office building, directly across from the Crump Theater, Hackman said.
If you decide to mail the installment, it must be postmarked on or before the due date, be properly addressed and have sufficient postage, she said.
Those who wish to go online and pay with a credit card or e-check can do so. However, Hackman said using that method will result in paying a convenience fee. Both online payments and enrollment for emailed tax bills in 2020 can be made by going to bartholomew.in.gov.
Although several local banks are accepting payments, Hackman reminds residents they must bring their tax bill to the bank with them.
