Looking Back – November 15

An estimated 150 shoppers waited outside during the ribbon-cutting ceremony opening a second Marsh Grocery, this one on 25th Street, in 1969. About 20 volunteers raked leaves, removed weeds and recycled tires, swept sidewalks, tore down old fences and cleaned up four residential yards to spruce up Ninth Street Park and the surrounding area, a project of Housing Partnerships Inc. and Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center.

An Illinois man hunting deer in southern Bartholomew County was killed in an accidental shooting.

American Education Week closed with a dedication program and open house at the new Southside Junior High School.
