Olympians down Braves
BROWNSTOWN — Koryn Greiwe poured in 32 points Tuesday night to lead Columbus East to a 59-53 victory at Brownstown Central.
The Olympians (5-1) led 26-25 at halftime before outscoring the Braves 19-10 in the third quarter to pull away.
Emma Jenkins and Gabby Dean each added eight points for East.
Flashes top Bull Dogs
INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North rallied from an eight-point halftime to within two, but Franklin Central held on for a 55-49 victory.
Lauren Barker led the Bull Dogs (2-2) with 10 points. Kylah Lawson and Alexa McKinley each added nine.
"We played hard," North coach Pat McKee said. "We competed. We had good energy. But we needed to finish a few plays a little better. Our effort was good."
Central Michigan recruit Rachel Loobie led the Flashes with 20 points.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Cougars topple Trinity
SEYMOUR — Gage Walters scored 35 points to lead South Decatur to a season-opening 84-72 win at Trinity Lutheran.
Tyler Goecker led the Cougars with 29 points. Jack Marksberry scored 13, and Josh Rowe added 12.
Lancers drop opener
SHELBYVILLE — Southwestern (Shelby) jumped out to a 29-13 halftime lead and went on to hand Edinburgh a 61-41 season-opening Mid-Hoosier Conference defeat.
Darius Bennett led the Lancers with 17 points. Isaac Roberts added 10.
