Deserved recognition
For the second straight year, Analytical Engineering Inc., a technology, manufacturing and research and development company based out of Columbus, has won a national award. AEI was one of 12 companies in Indiana — and more than 400 nationwide — to receive the Gold HIRE Veterans Medallion Award from the U.S. Department of Labor for their hiring and retaining of veterans.
The HIRE Vets Medallion Award is the only federal-level veterans’ employment award that recognizes a company or organization’s commitment to veteran hiring, retention and professional development. The threshold for companies of AEI’s size include 7% of new hires being veterans and 75% of them being retained for at least a year. AEI has done a tremendous job exceeding both.
Ten of AEI’s 50 employees, or 20%, are veterans, including David Turner, who was awarded two Purple Hearts after he was shot and injured by improvised explosive device while serving in Iraq. “I am very impressed with AEI’s support of veterans,” he said.
