Forty-five police officers volunteered their time to take 125 children Christmas shopping, part of the annual Shop With a Cop program coordinated by the local Fraternal Order of Police to assist families with young children.

A proposed ordinance to overhaul downtown parking received initial approval by Columbus City Council despite continuing concerns of some merchants and property owners.

A fringe benefit program, including life insurance and a long-term disability program for hospital employees, was adopted by Bartholomew County Hospital Board, replacing the discount employees formerly received when hospitalized.
