Bull Dogs post win

TERRE HAUTE — Columbus North scored the game’s first 14 points, led 29-5 after one quarter and held on for a 52-38 Conference Indiana win Saturday at Terre Haute North.

The Patriots cut the lead to 42-34 after three quarters and came within seven with just over six minutes left in the game. But the Bull Dogs (10-6, 2-0) got a 3-pointer from Madison White with 4:45 left and two free throws each from Alexa McKinley and Lauren Barker at the end to put it away.

White led Columbus North with 17 points. McKinley added 10.

Lancers fall in final

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh rallied from a 13-point deficit after three quarters, but came up just short in a 60-57 loss to Corydon Central in the title game of the Edinburgh Tournament.

Destiney Ramey became the Lancers’ all-time leading scorer with a 3-pointer in the first quarter and went on to lead Edinburgh (9-4) with 27 points. Haven Link added 18.

Jets finish fourth

EDINBURGH — Hauser fell to Southwestern (Shelby) 62-37 in the third-place game of the Edinburgh Tournament.

Kyleigh Parrott led the Jets (6-8) with 10 points. Gabby Johns added eight.

Eagles stop Cougars

EDINBURGH — South Decatur was within 32-30 at halftime, but Class A No. 3 Jac-Cen-Del pulled away for a 62-41 win in the fifth-place game of the Edinburgh Tournament.

Loryn Pate led the Cougars (3-12) with 15 points. Lana Bell added 12.

Pirates top Olympians

GREENSBURG — Columbus East rallied from a 17-point deficit early in the second half to within nine, but Class 3A No. 8 Greensburg pulled away for a 65-49 victory.

The Olympians (2-6) trailed 35-20 at halftime and 39-22 early in the third quarter before going on a 14-6 run to cut the lead to 45-36. But the Pirates scored the final basket of the third quarter and the first of the fourth and never trailed by less than double digits again.

Will Rieckers and Jacob Pierce each scored nine points to lead East. Crase Bergman grabbed five rebounds, and Murphy had five assists.

Eels down Eagles

NASHVILLE — Brown County trailed only 20-18 at halftime, but Clay City pulled away for a 51-35 victory.

Travis Ely led the Eagles (3-8) with seven points.

East 8th in State Duals

FORT WAYNE — Columbus East split its two pool matches before falling to Perry Meridian 45-25 to finish eighth in the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association State Duals.

The Olympians fell to eventual champion Cathedral 43-17 and beat Roncalli 44-25 in its pool matches.

Noah Lykins went 2-0 at 113 pounds before moving up to 120 and falling against Perry Meridian. Jacob Shaver (138), Kade Law (152), Sam Morrill (160), Noah White (182), Shawn Tyler (220) and Ashton Hartwell (285) all went 2-1 for East.

Panthers go 8-1

SCOTTSBURG — Jennings County went 8-1 over two days to finish second in the Scottsburg Warrior Classic.

The Panthers beat Jeffersonville B 50-21, North Harrison 63-18, Providence 76-5 and Scottsburg 51-30 and fell to Southport 37-33 on Friday. Saturday, Jennings beat West Washington 70-12, Milan 36-33, Southwestern (Hanover) 57-16 and Columbus East B 32-31.

Teagan Johnson (126), Joey Moran (138) and Cameron Woodard (182) all went 9-0 to win their weight classes. Dathan Malone (145) went 8-1, Jenn Ramirez (106) went 7-2, Teagan Trotter (160) and Sam Bennett (170) each went 6-3 and Blake Vaught (152) and Crayton Morrison (195) each went 5-4.
