Tyler Duncan fired an opening-round 6-under-par 66 Thursday and is tied for sixth place, two shots out of the lead in The American Express.
Duncan, a 2008 Columbus North graduate, shot 31 on the front nine and 35 on the back on the Nicklaus Tournament Course in La Quinta, California. The field is rotating between the Stadium Course, La Quinta Country Club and the Nicklaus course.
Zac Blair and Grayson Murray lead the tournament at 8-under 64. Hank Lebioda, Rickie Fowler and Scottie Scheffler are one shot back at 7-under 65.
