Driver arrested on drug-related charges after traffic stop

Columbus police officers arrested a local man on drug-related charges after a large amount of methamphetamine was discovered in his clothing during a traffic stop.

Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of 16th and California streets at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, which was driven by Harold R. Jordan, 62, of Columbus, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

A police canine was called to the scene and alerted to the odor of narcotics inside Jordan’s vehicle. Officers later searched Jordan’s clothing and located nearly 58 grams of methamphetamine that Jordan had concealed in his sweatpants, Harris said.

Jordan was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was being held on the following preliminary charges:

  • Dealing Methamphetamine (Level 2 Felony)
  • Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 3 Felony)
