CC wins at buzzer
C.J. Reed banked in a 35-footer at the buzzer Saturday night to lift Columbus Christian to a 46-44 win against Shawe Memorial.
The Hilltoppers led 44-41 in the closing seconds before Reed scored with 4.4 seconds remaining to cut the lead to one. The Crusaders fouled Shawe with 3.3 seconds left, and after an air ball on the one-and-one, Columbus Christian got the ball out of bounds.
“We were out of timeouts, and they called timeout, which gave me a chance to draw up a play,” Columbus Christian coach Kevin Roth said. “I said, ‘You can dribble the length of the court in four seconds. He took it on a curl and pulled up and hit the shot.”
Reed finished with 25 points to lead the Crusaders (7-19). Jacob Conrad added nine.
Jets fall to Indians
HOPE — Hauser kept it close for most of the game before Milan pulled away late for a 65-49 victory.
Jackson Paradise led the Jets (5-8) with 21 points. Bryce Bates added nine.
Panthers down Stars
NORTH VERNON — Jennings County trailed 22-21 after one quarter before rallying for a 74-68 Hoosier Hills Conference win against Bedford North Lawrence.
Aaron Martin led the Panthers (8-5, 1-2) with 26 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Keegan Manowitz added 19 points and six assists, and Carson McNulty had 17 points.
Cougars rout Spartans
GREENSBURG — Class 2A No. 5 South Decatur led only 24-23 after one quarter before pulling away for a 94-56 win against Southwestern (Shelby).
Lane Lauderbaugh poured in 35 points to lead the Cougars (13-0, 3-0). Dominic Walters scored 25, Hunter Johnson added 18 and Evan Wullenweber had nine.
GIRLS SWIMMING
East third in HHC
JEFFERSONVILLE — Columbus East won the final two events and finished third in the Hoosier Hills Conference meet with 188 points. Floyd Central won with 342, and host Jeffersonville was second with 301.
East’s Marin Wieneke won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute, 11.93 seconds. Ellie Proffitt, Jennifer Utterback, Karissa Miller and Wieneke then captured the 400 freestyle relay in 3:52.47.
Wieneke also finished second in the 50 freestyle (25.66). Jennifer Utterback took second in the 100 freestyle (56.44) and fourth in the 50 freestyle (25.66), Cloie McDonald was second in the diving competition (322.55). Miller finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:04.21) and Proffitt took third in the 100 butterfly (1:04.25).
Utterback, Wieneke, Proffitt and Miller were second in the 200 medley relay in 1:56.68.
“We had super swims today,” East coach Jill Arnholt said. “The girls were very excited and pumped up to swim. We pulled out some great races, many best times and a couple first-place finishes. There is always technique to work on, but the girls are looking really good. Looking forward to the next couple of weeks and some exciting races.”
Jennings County finished seventh with 70 points. Reagan Brown took third in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.44) and sixth in the 200 individual medley (2:25.50) to lead the Panthers.

Bull Dogs take sixth
INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North finished sixth in the Conference Indiana Tournament with 144 points, four behind fifth-place Bloomington North. Terre Haute South edged Bloomington South 262-260.5 for the title.
Keandre Watson won the 138-pound title to lead the Bull Dogs. Nick Holt (170) finished second, and Jared Slocum (152), Hector De Dios (160) and Adam Behling (220) all took fourth.
Eagles finish sixth
ELLETTSVILLE — Brown County finished sixth in the Western Indiana Conference Tournament with 111 points, one point behind fifth-place Owen Valley. Greencastle won with 195.
Sam Allen won the 285-pound title to lead the Eagles. David Tucker (145) and Brandon Phelps (160) each finished second, Aiden Vaught (152) and Evan Bradshaw (195) each took third and Lane Mullins (220) was fourth.

Braves top Panthers
NORTH VERNON — Brownstown Central jumped out to a 35-23 halftime lead and went on to hand Jennings County a 73-48 defeat.
Lily Ernstes led the Panthers (6-12) with 26 points.
