North stops Southport

INDIANAPOLIS — After a back-to-back cold shooting performances, Columbus North caught fire in a big way Friday night.

The Bull Dogs shot 69 percent (30 for 43) from the field, including 61 percent (8 for 13) from 3-point range, in rolling to a 78-59 Conference Indiana win at Southport.

North (13-3, 3-0) led from start to finish. The Bull Dogs led only 22-17 after one quarter, but increased the lead to 45-30 at halftime. North led by as many as 23 twice late in the third quarter.

Casper Clark went 9 for 9 from the field on his way to a game-high and career-high 19 points and also led the Bull Dogs with six rebounds. Blake Barker also scored 19 points, while Nick Sxhiavello added 17 and Cam Wischmeyer had 10.

East falls to Trojans

ST. LEON — Columbus East was within 34-28 at halftime, but East Central pulled away in the second half for a 69-51 victory.

Daniel Murphy led the Olympians (3-12) with 11 points, while Weston Romine had 10 in his first varsity start. Tyler Boyer added nine, and Ben Kuhlman had eight.

Panthers down Warriors

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County trailed 28-27 at halftime before rallying for a 73-60 win against Scottsburg.

Carson McNulty led the Panthers (10-6) with 25 points. Keegan Manowitz scored 16 points, Trey Wilson had 15 points and Jacob Vogel added eight points and 10 rebounds.

Jackets top Lancers

MORRISTOWN — Edinburgh was within 30-25 at halftime, but Morristown pulled away for a 67-49 Mid-Hoosier Conference victory.

Caleb Dewey led the Lancers (4-13, 3-2) with 20 points. Noah Detling scored nine, while Travis Jones and Landon Burton each added eight.

Eagles finish 10th

GREENCASTLE — Brown County lost at South Putnam 47-34 in the Western Indiana Conference ninth-place game.

The Eagles fell to 3-13.

Trinity wins in 2 OTs

SEYMOUR — Tyler Goecker made a basket to tie the game with 10 seconds left in the first overtime, then made 5 of 6 free throws in the second overtime to give Trinity Lutheran a 73-67 win against Crothersville on senior night.

Jack Marksberry led the Cougars (9-9) with 20 points. Goecker added 16, and Mitchell Hackman had 15.
