Rooks brothers pick up victories

Graham Rooks Indiana Athletics

Indiana University wrestler Graham Rooks and his brother Cayden Rooks both picked up victories in Sunday’s dual match with Minnesota.

The 16th-ranked Graham Rooks, a redshirt freshman from Columbus East, won a 5-2 decision over No. 4 Brayton Lee of Minnesota at 149 pounds. Cayden Rooks, a freshman from East, won a 5-3 decision over Boo Dryden of Minnesota at 133.

The Hoosiers fell to the Gophers 38-9.

In Thursday’s dual match against Wisconsin, Graham Rooks won against No. 13 Cole Martin of Wisconsin 4-3 at 149, and Cayden Rooks lost a major decision to No. 1 Seth Gross of Wisconsin 12-4 at 133.

The Hoosiers fell to the Badgers 27-12.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Williams, Guy win twice

Marian forward Imani Guy finished with 10 points and eight rebounds in an 81-50 win over Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday. Elle Williams had four rebounds.

Guy, a junior from North, recorded nine points and eight rebounds in a 65-52 victory over Taylor on Wednesday. Williams, a senior from North, added four points and six rebounds in the game.

The Knights are 21-3.

Huffman still winning

Cedarville guard Ashlyn Huffman tallied nine points, nine assists, seven rebounds and two steals in a 74-57 win against Alderson Broaddus on Saturday.

Huffman, a junior from North, had four points, three rebounds and two assists in a 77-41 win over Trevecca on Thursday.

The Yellow Jackets are 16-5.

Wilder, Tynan post wins

Hanover forward Callie Wilder recorded three points, two rebounds and two steals in an 80-64 win over Manchester on Saturday. Liz Tynan added three points and two rebounds.

Wilder, a freshman from Jennings County, had seven points and three rebounds in a 77-52 win against Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday. Tynan, a sophomore from North, added two points and two rebounds.

The Panthers are 12-6.

Weisner starts in loss

Earlham guard Amy Weisner, a senior from North, finished with 11 points, two rebounds and two assists in a 56-51 loss to Anderson on Saturday.

The Quakers are 5-14.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Gross nets double-double

Olivet Nazarene center Alex Gross, a sophomore from Hauser, recorded 13 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks in a 99-76 victory over Governors State on Saturday.

The Tigers are 22-2.

Williams splits two

Hanover forward Kevin Williams finished with three points and six rebounds in a 61-51 loss to Manchester on Saturday.

Williams, a senior from East, had seven points and four rebounds in a 60-43 win over Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday.

The Panthers are 14-5.

King scores wins

Army forward Alex King tallied two points and a rebound in an 80-79 victory over Lehigh on Saturday on Saturday.

King, a junior from North, added 10 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a 68-59 win over Bucknell on Wednesday.

The Black Knights are 11-10.

Chitty contributes

Bellarmine guard Parker Chitty finished with six points and a rebound in a 77-60 win against Lewis on Saturday.

Chitty, a senior from East, added six points in a 77-75 loss to Illinois-Springfield on Thursday.

The Knights are 16-3.

SWIMMING

Coles sets record

Marshall’s Darby Coles set a pool record with her teammates in the 200-yard medley relay in Saturday’s dual meet with James Madison. The team clocked a time of 1 minuted 41.77 seconds. Coles also picked up wins in the 50 freestyle (23.34) and 100 freestyle (50.78).

Coles, a junior from North, finished first in the 50 freestyle (23.91), second in the 100 freestyle (51.99) and second in the 200 freestyle (1:54.45) in Friday’s dual meet with Ohio University.

FOOTBALL

Hunter wins award

Saint Francis defensive back Damon Hunter Jr. was selected as one of 226 athletes named to the Mid-State Football Association’s All-Academic Team.

Hunter, a sophomore from North, helped the Cougars finish 7-3 during the 2019 season.
