The fourth-ranked Columbus North gymnastics team celebrated senior night Tuesday night against Seymour.

The Owls never threatened to spoil the festivities, and the Bull Dogs cruised to a 110.025-95.575 victory.

“It’s very great, kind of sad that it is my last meet here,” North senior Sami Heathcote said. “There’s still other meets in the season, though. I’m excited to continue on.”

In the all-around competition, Emily Moore captured first place with a score of 38.1. Heathcote placed second (37.15), Alayne Davis was third (34.05) and Madi Edwards was fourth (32.975).

“I was very pleased,” Moore said. “I think it was one of my best meets this season, at least one of my highest all-around scores.”

On the vault, North scored 27.95 as a team, which is its highest total this year. Moore finished first (9.525), Heathcote placed second (9.4) and Davis captured third (9.025).

On the bars, the Bull Dogs swept all four spots. Moore claimed first (9.4), Heathcote finished second (9.025), Lindsey Mullis took third (8.75) and Davis was fourth (8.075). The team score of 27.175 was also their highest bars score of the season.

Moore posted her best score of the season on the beam with 9.725, and Heathcote placed second (9.525).

North dominated the floor, grabbing the top four spots. Moore claimed first with a 9.45, Heathcote finished second (9.2), Davis placed third (9.075) and Edwards was fourth (8.85).

“This group of seniors has been one of the biggest group of seniors that we’ve moved through our program,” North co-coach Sandy Freshour said. “They’re all really great friends and really great students. They’re just good people, in addition to being great gymnasts. So it’s a little surreal to think that we won’t have that presence and their parents, too, because the parents have been phenomenal, and proud, supporting parents, as well.”
